Guest guest
Hi, Just got back from the dentist with my son. His canines are impacted and are sideways not straight down. They would have to pull his 2 baby canines and then pull down the ones that are impacted. It will take about 3 years if it even works. They said we need to see an orthodontist and surgeon for this one. Has anyone had this problem with their special needs child? Guest guest
Hi Ana, not exactly the same but my son did have to see an orthodontist at age 9 to work on a bite issue and then go to the oral surgeon to get his canines pulled. We did this in December and we are waiting to see if the new teeth come down, if not we will have to have the new ones pulled down by the orthodontist. Do you need referrals? Guest guest
My daughter had to have 9 teeth extracted in the special needs dental outpatient dept @ Joe Dimaggio. In addition, her one canine was barely coming out of the gum and the gum had to be cut for the tooth to drop down. I don't know if this is related to the diagnosis as I had mouth difficulties as well. The braces have worked well however and will be coming off soon!
