I thought you may be interested in seeing video of our meeting with Jane and Jen Ungru from the governor's office, about the Medwaiver cuts. The link is below. It was not very successful and as you can see by their comments, the only thing they seem concerned with is whether or not families and providers are willing to take cuts to fund everyone at a lower level of service and to assist in providing individuals on the wait list with services. The reality is, the only way to provide these individuals with appropriate services and do away with the waiting list, is to increase funding levels or raise taxes. I doubt we will see that anytime soon, with the current administration.

There was no commitment from either of these ladies when asked this question 3 times during our meeting: If we can get the Senate to agree to come up to the House's budgeted amount for Medwaiver (APD) funding, will the governor's office agree to reverse the cuts?

In closing, the House has the solution to the deficit and there was no reason for the Governor to enact these emergency cuts, until the legislature works out the differences in conference, like every year before this. The Governor created a bigger crisis by taking this action. Only time will tell how bad the fallout will be.
