Guest guest
Forwarding http://youtu.be/vEuMDOg-_Hs copy and paste link to your browser This is a video I created documenting the protest at channel 10 on Wed. The song is "Crime of the century " by Supertramp and is very fitting pertaining to whats going on. Both my wife and I caregivers who now have no jobs. These cuts have affected so many people in so many ways but the most vulnerable of our society is being affected the most. I promise to be at every protest possible,to write every person I can involved , make phone calls , send emails and tell every person I meet about this injustice to the Developmentally Disabled. Our stake in this financially is a $10.00 an hour job. Our stake in this morally and ethically far outweighs the monetary gain. Lets face it, no one who is in the care giving business in our positions is in it for the money. This is our passion and we, as a group, must fight to keep the individuals in question from receiving sub standard care or no care at all. A society is judged on the care of it's weakest and most vulnerable individuals and the Florida government has forgotten this. It is our moral obligation to remind them of this on a daily basis. My background in care started 35 years ago when my family was blessed by the adoption of my little brother who has Downs Syndrome . He is and always will be the light of my life and I would not be the person I am today without him. Out of the many wonderful things my parents did for him, the single most important they gave him was retaining his ability to voice his opinion. Unlike many of our consumers,he has never been declared incompetent and can vote, and let me tell you, he's pissed. http://youtu.be/vEuMDOg-_Hs copy and paste link to your browser One question to all who receive this, Is there a centralized mailing list ? One of us needs to gather and post a common email list for as many agencies, providers and caregivers as possible. This would help greatly in organizing larger and more effective protests in the future. I would be willing to help, I have nothing else to do. stylutions1@...
