Guest guest
If a child does not get " approved " through Early Steps but they need help immediately, can one find a provider through Medicaid (prescription from dr) for SLP and OT? The child is 18 months. Will they pay for services??
Guest guest
I believe this is very possible. Early steps requires that the child have a certain percentage of delay to qualify for services. At a health fair a rep told me that they would increase it from 35 to 50% delay to qualify. So, if your child tests at a 30% delay in fine motor skills and 42% percent delay in language, would not qualify for early steps but with a doctor's prescription for eval and treatment, medicaid may pay for it because they do not have the same guidelines for treatment. > > If a child does not get " approved " through Early Steps but they need help immediately, can one find a provider through Medicaid (prescription from dr) for SLP and OT? Guest guest
Does the child receive Medicaid through CMS? Or an HMO? Was the child evaluated at Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center - (CDTC)? The case workers there have lists of provider names. There are plenty of providers available. What city do you live in? Guest guest
We didn't qualify so they forward our info to another agency called early discovery service partnership. There criteria is supposed to be less restrictive. We are still waiting for their evaluation to see if we can get something I would just ask your early steps service coordinator Sent from my iPad
