Do you think that it is a condition that is still growing or increasing? DR. IRVA HERTZ-PICCOTTO: Well, the rates are continuing to rise. And those are the rates of diagnosis. Whether the actual rates of autism are still rising or whether it is a result of artifacts that have to do with the way we ascertain and the way we diagnose is something that is very difficult to disentangle.
