Guest guest
Has anyone encountered this before in meters? I have 200 strips from last year. When I went to use my accuchek aviva meter today I got an error message. It said the strip was expired and refused to do anything else. This is a self coding meter and obviously that info is built in along with the batch info. I thought to remove the battery to reboot the meter and change the date. No joy, like the memory info this is in flash memory once the meter is setup. I have written before how much I detest the nanny oversight assumptions that are enforce. But that is another story. A call to customer service got a one time replacement for all 200 strips. I was prepared to make a scene but that turned out not to be necessary. Being blind had some part in this I think. This is in my mind a form of theft. The strips belonged to me and what was done with them is no concern of the company once I took delevery of them. It appears a feature to enforce the date. With insurance they figure it is no problem to get them replaced. No doubt controllingresale on ebay etc. is an objective. XB
Guest guest
Nice of them to replace them. I thought the expiration date was longer than a year, but they perhaps were really expired. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of - Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 1:11 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: A new meter experience Has anyone encountered this before in meters? Guest guest
At least they replaced your strips. As someone else commented, they may have indeed been unreliable due to their age.
