We have had our 8 year old son on IVIG for 3 months but are not seeing any

results and in fact he has become more aggressive. I would be interested to hear

from others who have tried this. We are thinking of halting the

treatments.especially as he is chelating at the same time and we are concerned

this is overloading his system.

Does anyone know a good Dan doctor who investigates possible yeast problems and

their link to aggression? Most of them seem to focus on reducing metal toxicity

without enough emphasis on gut issues.

Thanks

I'm not a doc, but for us if we don't see any improvements within 3 months we

stop using it. We did antivirals for 9 months (valtrex) combined with

antifungals for yeast and saw moderate results with that. Now we are doing

chelation using Andy Cutler's protocol which has been giving us amazing results!

But it took a while to see those results b/c yeast/bacteria that was increased

by chelation was also causing aggression and silliness. I would definitely say

that getting yeast/bacteria under control has reduced autistic behaviors

(stimming, repetitive behaviors and aggression) for us by about 60%. Digestive

enzymes were also a big help in healing his gut.

We have been to 3 Dan's in florida and all have helped, but honestly nothing is

better than educating myself as a parent, trying new interventions slowly and

then watching and and recording reactions. Doctors can help guide us, but

ultimately we are the ones who live with the child and watch every change. We

used to be on Diflucan or Nizoral for yeast, now we are Grapefruit seed extract

(GSE) for yeast which is doing a much better job and is natural and less harmful

to the liver. For bacteria we use Goldenseal and probiotics (must be given

separately). These naturals are potent so make sure you research dosing well

before deciding to give it. The autism-mercury yahoo group and the Recovery from

autism group and onibasu have been the biggest help for getting information for

us.

Your instincts are correct. You should be focusing on treating GI issues and normalizing the abnormal biochemistry before addressing heavy metal detox for the safety and well being of the child. Also in many cases there is very little progress because the gut and foundational issues haven't been addressed. Maybe you need to consider something other than the DAN protocol, because the focus is more on chelating as quickly as possible. www.pHtestlab.com you can contact me on further info Badillo9@...

I use dr Udell in weston. He has helped my daughter with gut and diet. . He really knows his biomedical stuff and truly cares about the child and the family. He's very personable too and understands what we are going thru. Good luck!CindyCindy ProducerSent from my iPhone

Dr. Rossignal is the DAN dr. we use and he has been great with the gut issues. Our son has constant battles with bacteria and yeast keeping it undercontrol is a full time job. Here is his # .
