There are people here that will come to your home if you get a refferal but I dont know how it works everywhere else. I also have him enrolled now in 3 year old pre school but I do know the only reason he qualifies is because of his disability. So now he gets school support and individual therapy. maybe this could be a resource for you? sheri --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Guest guest
hi kristy- is there a social worker at the speech clinic you attend- there are some waivers that cover healthcare costs regardless of your income although you do have to apply and get refused by ssi so you can show the state you have been turned down and then medicaid covers it. it isnt necessarily based on your income- your income is based on medicare alone though- the laws maybe different in your state, i live in iowa- i know you were not writing to me so forgive me for butting in here-i know how difficult it is to pay for speech services- can you get some homework from the person doing speech now? our slp was using the kaufman praxis treatment kit so i invested a couple hundred dollars and bought them- i know it is a lot of money but when you are paying atleast 100 an hour for an slp and take into consideration that is only 2 hours of therapy and i could do endless therapy at home in adjacent to the therapy already being done i think it was a real bargain. My son is 74% INTELLIGIBLE AND I HAVE ARRANGED in home services also. There must be a resourceful social worker who can help you find out what programs are available- the united way may be able to help you also- they sometimes supplement therapy- they also helped us. It is very hard to get social security as the income levels are so low and there are a lot of people stuck in the middle like you are- you're not alone and although i know nothing about your childs speech i do know that if she qualifies for more therapy there are some programs available-dont give up- charlotte henry
