Guest guest
I think there is branch lettuce that is just available now. That is like ramps which are kin to onions. You eat a raw ramp in the spring to shed your winter skin. My mother fixed a salad similar to this early in her marriage to my father. She expected him at a certain time but he was kept late at work. She had poured the hot grease before the time she expected him. by the time he got home it was cold but he ate it and it about killed him. Guest guest
well it is true if you pick it at the wrong ime of the season, then poke will make you very sick or even cause death. I never learned as a child when to pick it or not. parents are both gone now and not seeing these days, I don't plan to take a chance my self. but that poke salad was really some fine eaten if you grew up around it as I did. just once more with music please. ever heard of a fellow name Tony Joe White? sang his only real hit ever called, Poke salad Annie. he also wrote the song, the night the lights went out in , but he didn't sing it. Guest guest
Maybe I've never had it, but it sounded like you were describing greens or kale.
