Guest guest
ok looked up how to spell the 2 kinds I have in the freezer right now and they are high in fiber. one is called Geneses and the other is Ezekiel. they have other kinds and most are names out of the good book. you can find them mostly in the freezer section of most health food stores, but our grocery store here in OkC called Crest does carry them for one dollar a loaf cheaper. I like it toasted, but plain is to nasty tasting to me. some one did read the label to me once, but the memory didn't hold on to the information long enough to bring it back up for recall. will get the information about the calories, carbs and fiber and let you know. Guest guest
Lately, I've been using 2 different types of flat bread that I really like. One is multi-grain, and the other is called light tomato with the multigrain having 21 grams of carbs and the light tomato 19 grams. I guess that is about the same as 1 slice of bread. It's terrific because it's so easy to make a sandwich, kind of like a wrap really. I just started using these a few days ago and love it. Guest guest
Hmmm. I have not heard of the first brand, but Ezekiel bread is ugly (IMO) unless it is the kind with raisons in it. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Mark Ruth Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2012 5:43 AM To: blind diabetics Subject: my whole grain bread. ok looked up how to spell the 2 kinds I have in the freezer right now and they are high in fiber. one is called Geneses and the other is Ezekiel. they have other kinds and most are names out of the good book. you can find them mostly in the freezer section of most health food stores, but our grocery store here in OkC called Crest does carry them for one dollar a loaf cheaper. Guest guest
A " regular " slice of bread, for calculating purposes, has about 15 grams of carbohydrates. If your 21 grams is for some kind of wrap, in other words, you'd use it as you would 2 slices of bread, you're better off. Guest guest
Right, that’s why I like these wraps so much. One flat bread or wrap replaces 2 slices of bread. Sometimes I also get a very thin sliced whole wheat where 2 slices are equal to 1 slice of regular bread. I do prefer the wraps though. Guest guest
I actually eat this bread that gives the serving size as 3 slices. It's a thin sliced bread. It's not the highest in fiber though, after hearing some of the fiber breads mentioned here recently. Only 6 grams of fiber per serving (3 slices), and I only ever eat 2 slices. Sometimes I'll eat one slice with peanut butter for lunch, along with a pile of walnuts. I know, weird! Guest guest
actually I eat about ten walnut halves with a half of an orange and it won't spike my sugar, but if I just eat the orange and not the nuts, then the orange will spike my sugar. I read that the fat in the nuts eaten with the orange or some other type fruit is what stops it from spiking the sugar. the fat causes it to slow way down and not react so fast in the blood stream. well it really does work this way for me. the only time I will eat a half of an orange or less is late at night when going to bed and my sugar is in the low 90's or 80's. this keeps me from dropping to low in the night. here lately my bed time sugar is running around 107 and first thing of the next morning it is still the same or real close either way. my whole grain bread. ok looked up how to spell the 2 kinds I have in the freezer right now and they are high in fiber. one is called Geneses and the other is Ezekiel. they have other kinds and most are names out of the good book. you can find them mostly in the freezer section of most health food stores, but our grocery store here in OkC called Crest does carry them for one dollar a loaf cheaper. Guest guest
It's either the fat, or perhaps the protein that slows the glucose spike. Related to our pancake discussion, when eating a pancake meal, I always have 2 eggs to help slow the spike. Guest guest
long before I found out I was a T 2, I once ate a huge pile of pancakes with lots of syrup and a bit later I felt so sick and light headed and the whole bit from sugar when it is way high. haven't ever for got that feeling and certainly don't wish to go there again. felt the very same way when once before I was a diabetic the same kind of feeling after eating a whole skillet of fried potatoes. actually thought I was having a heart attack with out chest pane. the rest was about the same though. they say you can actually be T 2 diabetic many years before it shows up in a blood test. they say maybe ten to 12 years. I believe it may be true for a fact. lots of T 2's running around as we speak not giving a flip about there health or the extra weight, but then not long ago I was one of those people feeling the same way. the key is to figure out a way to make them all listen before they get to the health issues do to over eating and lack of exercise in there life. Been Praying about this and maybe up the road God will let me know how to get through to these folks. I sure hate to see them have heart attacks like I had and the truth of it is they may not be around to talk about like I am. 60% never live pass the first heart attack that happens at night so they say. my whole grain bread. ok looked up how to spell the 2 kinds I have in the freezer right now and they are high in fiber. one is called Geneses and the other is Ezekiel. they have other kinds and most are names out of the good book. you can find them mostly in the freezer section of most health food stores, but our grocery store here in OkC called Crest does carry them for one dollar a loaf cheaper.
