Guest guest
We've just gone GF, and today is my dad's birthday. I have a cake mix, but I forgot about frosting. Can anyone tell me a brand name of a GF frosting, or give me an easy recipe to make my own at home? Thanks, KerryAnn www.cookingNT.com
Guest guest
Duncan Hines Homestyle frostings are GF. Betty Crocker will list gluten as wheat, oats, rye or barley on the label.
Guest guest
I'm a lazy bones* and have successfully used the Cherrybrook Kitchen mixes. They say GF right on the box. Yes, I'm sure there are less expensive ways to make a GF frosting mix. But I like tried-n-true even if I have to pay a little bit more for the luxury of avoiding doing my own measuring, mixing, researching, etc. By the way, this Cherrybrook Kitchen GF frosting mix works really well with ice-cream non-cake cakes. I've done that for a few family birthdays since diagnosis. Guest guest
I can't tell you which frostings are gluten free, but here's my recipe. Buttercream frosting 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup shortening 1 tablespoon vanilla 4 cups powdered sugar 1-2 Tablespoons milk, more or less to desired consistency Beat butter and shortening until creamy. Add vanilla and mix well. Slowly add powdered sugar while mixing. Add milk until reaches desired consistency. Optional- Add 1/4 cup cocoa powder for chocolate frosting, more to taste. Usually will need to add more milk. HTH, HELP! Cake Frosting We've just gone GF, and today is my dad's birthday. I have a cake mix, but I forgot about frosting. I also like cream cheese frosting: 8oz cream cheese, softened. one stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened a box of confectioner's sugar (1lb?) a teaspoon or so of vanilla a bit of milk (I eyeball it. Kinda gooshy that way, but I'm guessing it's about 3TB) Mix. I let the kitchenaid do the work. If you like it lumpier, add pecans and/or coconut. ygg
