Guest guest
ok my fine Sir! the first thing you do to improve your health is move out of that sorry state of Texas and move here to Oklahoma where it is so windy. now when Texas blows and Kansas sucks! this is why this grate state is so windy. as far as losing your site, well the smells bad. I use to have enough travel vision to get about with out help from people, dogs or canes, but in my thirty's RP finally took it all and now I dwell in life as a total. Really not the end of life though as some of my friends seem to think. just have to find a different way of doing those things you do and continue to do because life does go on for us who love life. Jesus is the answer for sure! God may have a special plan for your life and not seeing well may be a requirement of the job you have yet to do. the A1C tells you how well your sugars have been over the past 90 days and if this number is over 6.5, then you will and can have problems of many up the road. I had a big old nasty heart attack back in 07 and I was only 50. done 25% damage to my heart that can't be made good again. have had many heart issues since all because of out of control sugar and my A1C of 13. plus my triglycerides kicking in at only 1400. all these numbers is why the heart attack happened and all the rest of the heart issues since. I did get my attitude right where it needs to be in order to get control of my life back at the end of this last February and I got the attitude right through Prayer. I let go of doing it my way and by my self and gave it to God. took me all most all of 50 years to finally understand that I continued taking my troubles back after giving them to God to handle and he allowed me to do so because he gave me a free will to decide to do so. I was weighing in at 317 the first of February and this fine morning I weigh 292. will go see what my A1C is around the first week in June and I know it will be less then 13. I do feel better since getting control of my over eating and I ride my no where bike 45 minutes twice every day. haven't missed a day since starting back on March first. can't miss a day or I will loose interest in exercise totally. been there and done that to many times. I know that health issues like strokes and heart attacks do happen to those who are in good health, but high sugars out of control also can increase your chances of having the same and even worse. We each can only control what we have to control with making smarter choices. the rest we give to God and not take it back. if you do take it back and continue doing it by your self and in your own strength? you will fall on your face and get worse instead of better. I know first hand because for most of my years I lived just this way. over eating is an addiction just like drugs or alcohol. we have to eat to live though and this is why the addiction can be worse then drugs and alcohol. since everything in Texas is much larger then the rest of the country, I suppose the meals you have are as well much bigger? over eating is one of the hardest bad habits you will ever change, but it can be done. start our slow and work your way up to eating 3 smaller meals each day. don't go whole hog and try it all at one time. this method will cause you to hurt your face when the floor hits you in the mouth. 59 is still young. even though 4 years older then I am, it is still very young and if you get control of your sugar right now and the over eating, then you could be hanging around in this old messed up world another 25 years in grate health. don't get control and the next few years will be hell on earth for you and what they call a slow death, taking you one piece at a time until all of you dies! now start packing right now and I will start looking around for you the best house I can find here in Oklahoma City. you probably live in a 10,000 square foot house seeing as how all is big in Texas, so you should be able to get enough cash from the sell of your house to pay off your new house here and mine too! get you a no where bike and lets go traveling down the trail of pounds lost together as a team. Guest guest
Welcome, , officially! You've had a taste of our unofficial road to nowhere self-appointed motivation director, Mark, and I hope he doesn't scare you away! LOL Glad you're here, and ask anything you feel you need to know. If we don't know the answer, we'll tell you. Diabetes is a 24/7 disease, if you haven't figured that out yet. And it is usually not overly forgiving. Fortunately, we have tools today unavailable in the past. Namely, blood glucose testing meters. If you're not testing regularly, you need to be. You can have your doctor prescribe any number of strips you need. So you know, I have been a type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic since age 11. I am now 57. I lost my sight due to diabetic retinopathy in 1988, at the age of 33. As Mark said, life goes on, and while I miss my sight, life is still good. Hopefully, we'll be able to help each other and I wish you great success in getting better control over your diabetes. Guest guest
ok Sir Sir! I just had a brain storm or a brain fart! you will have to decide which it is. we got a train here in OkC that goes to Fort Worth every day and returns. the deal is you tie a rope on behind the train on your end there in Fort Worth and I will do the same to the one that leaves here for your neck of the woods. I'm figuring maybe 200 miles tops. we both should drop the pounds faster this way and we can ride in the train going back home. run up and ride back. the only problem I can see with this deal is, can you and I run as fast as we need to? the train will probably pull us up the track at at least 55 miles per hour. dragging us won't make the pounds come off, so we may have to spend a bit of time trying to figure this method of weight lost out. was thinking maybe skates? then I'm not sure if I can spread my short legs far enough to have a skate on each track? then again this isn't doing much for my waste line either. I will work on it and get back to you when I figure the plan out. I think the train stops at maybe 5 small towns along the root, so maybe we could like jump on and off as the train is slowing down and picking up speed again leaving. we wouldn't run as many miles, but we may get just enough running to drop a few pounds each day. I've never rode a train before in my whole life. funny how that is when I got one right here to take to Fort Worth any day of the week and I heard the cost is less then the bus. Also heard the handicap seating is grate for us who are blind. know some blind folks who have took the train and have heard the stories. I would like sitting on the caboose and hanging my feet off like we kids done ridding the hay wagon. Always wondered why a train has to have a caboose in the first place? looks to me like the last car should be the last car. what is the purpose of a caboose in the first place? Guest guest
Hi , Did the strokes have any affect on you that you know of with your speech or ability to move? I never knew you were sighted but you are probably having some vision loss now. Are you also trying to lose weight along with all that? I am fortunate at least for now no heart trouble or strokes but just about 35 pounds to loe and almost one year that I know of for diabetes. I am really worried about my feet because of that tough skin on my heel so will ask the doctor about that again on Monday when he comes. I would rather hear him say I don't have anything to worry about instead of saying I should have gottn it taken care of before. Guest guest
Welcome , Glad to have you on the list. Sorry to hear about strokes. Those are one of the many complications uncontrolled diabetes can do to you. What after effects do you have from the strokes? What meds are you on? I have been type 1 diabetic since the age of 22 months and I am now 69. By th eway, macular degeneration does run in families. Looking forward to hearing from you again. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Lee Holbert Sent: Saturday, May 19, 2012 5:03 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: My Intro Good morning, My name is Lee Holbert and I am located in Fort Worth, Texas.
