Guest guest
well this is what Doctor Atkin's says? I tried his diet about 15 years ago and got sick and tired of so much meat. I actually did lose some weight, but got to feeling really bad after a while. went to see the saw bones and found out all my electrolytes and the such was all kinds of messed up. got all that straight again and forgot the only eat meat diet. Guest guest
most folks have not a clue exactly how little 30 carbs is. 2 slices of regular bread is close to 30 carbs and this is all you are allowed for the whole day. like a serving of green beans has 8 carbs I think. this is only 4 servings a day of such a veggie. even us who are cutting carbs down will have 30 carbs at breakfast and dinner for a total of 60 not counting lunch. 30 carbs a day total isn't much at all. only eat meat and no carbs. well this is what Doctor Atkin's says? Guest guest
Hi Dave, Interesting reading today. Eons ago we gave the Atkins diet a shot and did lose some weight. I seriously doubt if we really stuck strickly to it but we did lose some weight. If you want to turn the clock further back you will find the Goldstein diet which really hammared on artifical additives and such. Now, 30 carbs per day seems to me a bit low. Crystal’s doc told her to stay below 90 carbs per day. Guest guest
For the sake of clarification of terms, and it gets confusing and we all muddy the water sometimes, when we say carbs, this is technically referring to a serving of carbohydrate. For instance, we can have 2 carbs for breakfast, meaning, 2 servings of carbohydrates, or roughly, 30 grams of carbohydrates. So, a " carb, " equals about 15 grams of carbohydrate. Guest guest
Several years ago I remember reading an article or maybe it was in a book on nutrition I read. It was stated that eating pure protein will make one sick in two to three weeks.Mark do you remember how long it took before you had to go to the doctor after eating all that meat? The Eskimos eat a lot of blubber, fat along with meat, andd I hear they have litttle to no diabetes and heart trouble. Of course all that changed when they started eating cereal. Now they get heart trouble and diabetes like the rest of us. just saying, Harry Ridiculous!Who needs a budget?A budget puts limitations on what you can spend! Guest guest
about 2 months is all it took. never been so tired of meat ever in my whole fat life, but then once I ate 2 salads a day for 66 straight days and the same thing happen. didn't mess up my electrolytes, but I never wanted to see another salad for a few months and didn't either. I did how ever drop 35 pounds and all my important numbers that the saw bones like all came down to be where he was very impressed and happy. ever ate 2 salads a day? lunch and dinner for over 2 months straight! wish to drop the weight and the numbers like ldl and cholesterol and the such? try the 2 salad diet a day and in only ten days all those numbers we live by will change for the better! just be careful not to make the mistake of adding the wrong kind of dressing and messing it all up. Guest guest
I love salads, and I could eat them three times per day, but my wife likes to have a regular meal. Since she is the cook and meal planner, I eat whatever she prepares. She is good about following the recommendations I read here on the list serve, so I don't complain. She is an excellent gourmet cook. If mama ain't happy, no body is happy! Guest guest
Yes, Dr. Bernstein's diet only allows 30 grams of carbs per day 6 for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 12 for supper or something like that. I will have to read his book Diabetes Solution again, which I can send to you if you like.Just let me know. I bought many copies of the book and gave a couple of them to my treating physicians, whom I suspect never read it. just saying, Harry Communism fails every time it is tried just ask USSR, Greece, England and Cuba, where I hear it works wonderfully. It also works pretty well in Switzerland and Sweeden I hear. It is not working out so well at this time in France.

Guest guest
Lora, For some reason I am being forced to jump through a bunch of hoops to send you the book. I know I am blind and you have indicated to me that you are blind also. Every email message is scanned these days, since big brother is watching every thing. When it comes to a penalty for sharing a book with you that I have purchased several times and I also belong to a web site for blind folks, where books are distributed upon request. It is just as easy for me to pay a quarter million dollar fine as it is for me to pay a quarter trillion fine. i will send you the book as soon as I can get myself registered and cleared with yahoo mail, which is ridiculous since I use bellsouth.mail. Animal Farm and 1984 and A Brave New World is upon us. just saying, Harry Ridiculous!Who needs a budget? Guest guest
Hi Harry, The only other thing I do with some friends is that we use a thing called Drop Box. I don't know how to do it very well but we have shared folders. So it means if I want to share anything with either of these three girls, I just simply move the file into that folder. When a girl checks our folder on her computer, she has the exact same file or folder. We have exchanged manuals and songs and I have even put small video TV files of news reports that are .mpg files in my girl friend's folder that way. That is the easiest way to share files is through that dropbox thing. I don't know how really to set it up and send invitations and stuff, but I accepted their invitations and that is how I got to sharing with these 3 girls. Most of the time the folder just sits there but if one of them wants to give me something or I want to give them something, that folder is there and now we have no more hassle about a book, song, clip or whatever. If you write to me off list I don't have Yahoo, I have Comcast. My address is kc8gmt@...
