Guest guest
, I am sorry that you are not having a positive experience with Dr. Keljo and the Children’s team. He is the third GI that we have seen at Children’s and I am finding him to be the best. For example, last time surgery was a possibility for Suzanne I asked about fertility rates because of an article I had read (likely as a result of this group), Dr. Harpavat wasn’t familiar with it, and even after sending the citation to one of the student doctors she was working with Dr. Harpavat did not seem it was an issue that even needed to be discussed. If you remember, I loved Dr. Harpavat and still think she is an excellent doctor, she is just young therefore lacks experience. When Dr. Keljo talked to us about surgery HE brought up the fertility issues and was very knowledgeable about it. It’s very difficult because we are entrusting our children to the medical community – and the feeling not having control can become overwhelming. I must admit as I read your thoughts about Dr. Keljo it shook me a little because we are about to let him do major surgery on Suzanne and of course we want to go into this experience with complete confidence in the medical team; I will keep you updated on my experiences with him. Have you considered other GIs at Children’s? At this point I think I know all of them! I know that Joanne G. (Todd’s Mom) is also very knowledgeable about the Children’s GI team. Take care; you and Noah are in my prayers. LINDA (Mom of Suzanne, 17; IBD 1/04; PSC 3/04) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
, I do think I am at the top of the food chain so-to-speak over there (at CHP) in seeing Keljo and Squires and soon Shneider. My desire is going to be for Shneider to take over his care and for everyone else to keep their mitts out of it…although that might not be entirely possible. I think I might keep Squires and Shneider. I DO like Keljo…so much so I did not want to hurt him in adding Squires. I just could see that he did not have the liver knowledge I needed. I could tell that I knew more about PSC then he did. NOT GOOD. He was great on the IBD front however. I think he is your man. Interestingly enough, when Squires nurse called today regarding labs…they had no clue that he had referred to neuro or why he would have. So, one hand does not know what the other is doing. In this situation, I would prefer that Keljo deal with the IBD issues and Squires make all decisions dealing with the liver until Shneider is on the case. I think Suzanne is fine with him on the IBD front. He is amazing and has a very KIND heart! But in this case that only gets him so far since this has been going on since after Thanksgiving. I think Noah has HE. I hate to have to SAY that to them…they should be able to figure that out. I DID say that when we were there. They did take ammonia levels. But from what I hear it ammonia is not the only indicator of HE.
