Guest guest
I've had IV antibiotics (zoysyn and primaxim) for cholangitis 3 or 4 times. They always worked and then I had to go back on pills (Levaquin). I had the percutanous transhepatic tube that stented my Right ducts open . I was able to minimize infections by having in changed in the xray department every 6-8 weeks. Good luck with you PICC line and antibiotics. Does anyone have any experience with Picc lines...Thanks, - The PIC line is a long-term Peripheral Intravenous Catheter that allows much simpler administration of home antibiotics by IV. The PIC line requires little upkeep and can last months if needed. I actually had one for about 10 weeks when in pre-term labor (16 years ago!). It was a miracle - no additional IV sticks and no pain during medication administration. Good luck! Guest guest
has had a line for over a year now. Best thing ever. We recently changed over to a Hickman (in the chest), instead, but he had a PICC from October 05 through last month. No (or minimal) pokes for lab draws. Simple access for administering IV meds. Made life much nicer for him. Amizachsmominga wrote: Hi all,I have just been discharged from a 7 day hospital stay for cholangitis. ( My 3rd attack since November, each required a hospital stay) I was sent home on antibiotics after the 2nd attack in December. I lasted about 2 weeks and got another attack. The docs were concerned that I was "Failing" on Oral antibiotics and suggested the Picc line. So here I am with it in until Jan. 25th taking Zosyn 3 times a day. I also had an ERCP done during my hospitalization and a Stent was put in. I have had 2 other ERCP's but stenting was never needed. I feel like things are progressing SO FAST and I am scared. Does anyone have any experience with Picc lines or stents that have prevented further cholangitis attcaks?
