Guest guest Posted February 2, 2007 Report Share Posted February 2, 2007 hi sweetpea, thanks very much for writing, for your neverending support, & for your kind words. jim's colonoscopy has already been scheduled, for the doctor's next availible... friday, march 16th, bright & early. with this particular doc, it was either a friday morning or a monday afternoon. although i far prefer mondays for jim's frequent scopings, i knew jim ( & his tummy) would hate the additional wait... so friday it is. i've also obtained for jim the name of the local brilliant colon specialist (from jim's local brilliant hepatologist). this would be the same doctor performing jim's colectomy, whenever need ( & jim's ultimate willingness to lose another body part!) dictates. jim by NO means wishes to enter this learning curve (understandable, given all his body's been through since 1984), but back during his time of most " frequent " post-tx melanomas, basals and squamouses, we consulted a melanoma specialist then, too. and he was helpful. and we established good rapport with the guy, and God forbid that somewhere in jim's future, he isn't able to dodge a skin cancer bullet, then we can return to this guy, for good care. so, comparitively speaking, i feel it makes sense to schedule an initial consult with this colon guy, so we can meet, discuss, and begin initiating yet another rapport of trust. btw, ( & i say this with a screaming " yay! " ) i understand he is very, very nice. hey, you know how i prize both brilliance AND bedside manner in the same doctor-package ;-) how's your other half faring? any better? any worse? i've been keeping him in my thoughts & prayers. & you, too. how are you doing? you can write me off list, if you prefer. i wrote you a few times over the holidays, but when i never heard back, i just assumed the holidays were keeping you very busy? maureeniebeaniebobeanie@... much love to you sweetie, maureen ps - oh, i almost forgot. since you read the update... i'll go ahead & ask, do you have any " ideas " about how to deal with catbert's unhealthy, intrusive, controlling " connection " (via her best friend) to where jim would be getting his surgery, whenever that does take place? despite HIPPA laws & the threat of someone losing their job, no matter -- because i KNOW, deep down in my heart, that catbert (who, by her very own admission, doesn't sleep at night due to lack of moment-bymoment updates, & her tendency to give in to any & all worries beyond those on her own plate. again, this is by her own admission) WILL be able to ferret out information from her friend there who works in hospital administration. i'm not driving myself nuts over this, just trying to formulate a " calm " plan. after all that's happened in the past, i simply cannot allow more control issues to take place... as that's just not in jim's best interest(s). nor mine, as his advocate. so, sleep on it, & if you have a moment of inspiration... send it my way, please! ;-) actually, i just now remembered this same thing has happened to us before... back in '84, with the onset of jim's ulcerative colitis. a different relative phoned me, gently inquiring about jim & the state of his health, because he'd been in to see one of the doctors for whom she worked. she's since divorced herself from the family, and she no longer works for the same doctors, so i don't anticipate any issues coming from her direction (although the dichotomy with this person is absolutely fine). all this DOES pose the question, though, to you & to the group at large, for help & ideas with this particular problem. there are SO many great thinkers in this group! ideas, folks. i neeeeeeeed ideas...
