Noah's crap 24 hours

No pun intended! Well after Noah spent 2 hours vomiting...things

TOTALLY went downhill. My other two have had the flu, or a virus, but

NEVER like this. I have honestly NEVER seen anything like this. After

the sleep puking...he hurled bile and tons of it. He started having

chest pain without the vomiting, sort of between episodes he would get

the chest pain.

I took him to the ER. I had just had it. I was on IM with

(gaiatrek), 's mom and asked her...if I would be crazy and she

said no...so I just went for it. I took him to burg as I really

did not think he could make it with the chest pain the way it was to

Hershey. They took him right back with a full waiting room. He had no

fever, in fact a low temp. Low BP.

(BTW, he just now about got in the tub with his boxer shorts still on. )

They gave him a bolus of dextrose and fluid in the ER initially and

then gave him Zofran since he was still hurling bile. They took him

for abdominal x-rays...here is a fun story. Does he have anything in

his pockets? NO! Could you check? Sure... so I go frisk the

child...who has sweats and boxers on...NOTHING. It turns out that

there was something on the x-ray that was contrast like that they

could not " explain " and they asked if he had any contrast studies

recently, no. So, it looked at first like an appendix inflammation,

then like ureter issues...and then they decided it could be pant snaps

and then they all sat down together and decided to just let it go...as

....well ...nothing...no followup necessary either. OK! I am good with

it. Just another goofy, silly, can't possibly be easy thing Noah has

to have.

AHHHH!

Long and the short...he had a fever late in the day. Ate lunch...but

had diarrhea...they tested for blood and some other quick stool things

that I forget...I will probably remember things as my brain thaws. I

have not slept in 24 hrs.

Anyway, Noah was severely dehydrated which is amazing since he had

only been vomiting for about 2, and had diarrhea once. Is that pretty

normal for a liver kiddo? How do you rehydrate? He was puking every

thing up. Spoonfuls of anything were coming up. They said bringing him

in is important. I was glad they took me seriously and took him back ASAP.

Pitt did get the labs faxed to them, but no Amy today as she was out

sick. I had to deal with the nurse practitioner and not much...just

for her to call me and say fax to this number. Never heard back.

(BTW, LFTs, amalyse, lipase, etc...were all normal)

We did get other orders in the mail from them for amino acids,

magnesium, calcium and others I forget, but a urine toxicity level.

What the heck is that all about? Every one was perplexed about that

one. They ran it while we were there since we would be coming back in

shortly anyway for them.

All and all, a very good experience at this hospital. I am so glad! No

resolutions, but no shaking Noah in the middle of the night.

Worth everything for that. He is already so much better looking. He

was so grey looking and had that dark circle look...couldn't even lift

his head to puke in ...well...anything.
