Guest guest
Hang in there, and take a deep breath. I was diagnosed with UC in 1977 at 26 (PSC came in 2000), so I really do know what you're talking about. I've maintained my athleticism (consistent with my age for almost all of that time. I can't say that your experience will be the same, but I've been symptom free since bile duct dilatation and stenting in April, 2001. You're doing all the right things (I've been married 35 years now , including making the appointment for a hepatologist. I can't speak to the soreness part, since my first two ERCPs resulted in pancreatitis, which probably hurt a lot more than any soreness I might have experienced - the last ERCP for stent removal was " a piece of cake " . It's unlikely that you would have a high enough MELD score to be listed at this point, but the hepatologist will tell you that. As I said, hang in there - and ask any questions you might have. You've found a great place here! Arne UC 1977, PSC 2000 Alive and (mostly) well in Minnesota =========================================================== Hello, Just found this group browsing around today. I'm a 25 yr old male who was diagnosed with PSC in 2000 shortly after being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. For the past 7 years I've been essentially symptom free until this last week... Guest guest
Thank you for your response. It's been a crazy past couple weeks. I recently graduated from college and began working full time after finishing up my teaching credential this past December. One moment I'm trying to plan out the next 5-10 years of my life and the next I'm forced to except the realization that I don't have a lot of control over what happens next. By biggest concern through these past couple weeks has been the amount of strain it puts on my wife. It sounds like you have a lot of experience in that department being married 35 years : ) > > Hang in there, and take a deep breath. > > I was diagnosed with UC in 1977 at 26 (PSC came in 2000), so I really do know what you're talking about. Guest guest
Don't underestimate the strain it puts on your significant other - we're pretty hard on our caregivers Again, it looks like you're doing the right things.
