Guest guest
Is there any chance PSC can benefit from this breach? Maybe a cash donation from the magazine to apologize, or some publicity about this group and our goals would help? Also a mention about the conference in Denver would be nice. At the least a published acknowledgement of the situation and increased efforts, by the magazine, to require writers to prove they have permission from individuals to publish their remarks. When we have been given lemons I'm sure we can find a way to get some lemonade. MizKit
Guest guest
No one is going to pay us in anyway, shape or form for an article published 4 years ago that many of us have known about for quite some time. I have the right to feel the way I do, and have the concerns I have about it happening in the future. Nothing is going to change that. I'm not going to apologize for the way I feel -- thank God I don't have to. God gave me the right to think for myself and a strong sense of what is right and wrong. I, as a writer, would never be so careless, unethical, or unsympathetic to someone else's feelings and concerns.
Guest guest
JMHO – Y’all are going way overboard on this one. The article was written in 2003, four years ago! There is no way to prove there was a breach, especially since the author had permission from many (if not all) who were quoted in it. The author C.E. Pelc was/is a freelance writer, she has written a lot of articles for a lot of different publications. She also writes movie & music reviews. She currently is on the staff of a parenthood magazine and writes about disabled children & teens, being a single parent, traveling with kids etc. No one is going to pay us in anyway, shape or form for an article published 4 years ago that many of us have known about for quite some time. Guest guest
----Original Message----- I have the right to feel the way I do Sure you do, no one said you shouldn’t. I was just saying the magazine won’t face any consequences. Everything on the web is public domain. Remember a woman in our group who said she as going to write a book? She worked in a lawyers office. (I think her name was Janet??) She was pulling quotes and stories from all of us - with permission. There have been several others. There really isn’t anything we can do about it, except be careful of what we say.
Guest guest
I understand all of the differing viewpoints that have been mentioned here. Perhaps there could be a change made that would at least share an opinion about the " policy " (said loosely) of this group. I do not remember what goes out when someone signs up, so this may already be in place; but a statement about confidentiality should be included. Also, I notice that at the end of emails there is a Yahoo logo etc. added, if we have any input to that we could add a line about confidentiality. The internet has brought up more questions that anyone imagined, and the confidentiality of a " public " forum is certainly one of them. I am glad that this issue has been raised as I will remember this as I post things about Suzanne. Thank you .
