Bruce, I wanted to reply to your post over the weekend, my hands were swollen like an apple and looked like tree branches was unable to move. This morning in both of my palms received Cortisone injections and I'm in a lot of pain, finally they found the diagnosis as to why my fingers get locked and unable to move them.

What my dr's have done is the following, when I receive a requisition for blood tests, from my different specialists, so the blood won't be repeated or duplicated, if any blood tests are missing they just added to the paper...a copy is kept and the results are faxed to all dr's who's name is on the requisition.

I'm not sure if it works the same way in the US!

Why don't they do all possible blood tests?

Ok, tossing this one out. Every time I see an additional doctor or onein a different field, I find myself having more blood tests fordifferent things. The nephrologist found several things that theprimary, pulmonologist, hospital and rheumatologist didn't test for. Oneseems so simple but it was a huge Vitamin D deficiency. I'm justwondering why with patients known to have complicated illnesses orseveral conditions that one can't run all the tests at once for all thedoctors to ultimately use. Now, many of mine have been used by otherdoctors but there is just always more. The nephrologist also foundanother thing that meant a referral to another specialist-hematologist/ oncologist. I would have thought 22 tubes of blood inChicago would have been enough...lol. But each doctor looks at all myblood tests which have been done and then orders just a few more. Justseems to me that with all my trips to a

doctor and blood taken, findingan extreme Vitamin D deficiency should have been done long ago.
