Guest guest
Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. I have not posted since I first joined the list because of computer issues. They are temporarily resolved, but I will still need to purchase a new computer at some point. However, I have been reading post and trying to keep up with list activities. Now on to the update. I now have the Prodigy Auto Code talking glucometer and have learned to use it quite well. I am testing 6 or 7 times a day and truly understand what you all said about the meter becoming my best friend. Wow!!! I never thought I would be saying that. I find the meter very easy to use and am really not having any problems testing. What a relief. I have lost about 8 pounds which is a very good start. Now I just have to convince myself that I like to exercise. I like to walk outside, but at this time, just do not live in a very friendly area for that, but I am trying. I think I will buy a talking jump rope to play with, at least until the novelty wears off. When I was first diagnosed and went to the doctors, my A1C was 11.1. I went for my six week checkup and it was down to 8.6. I don't go back until January. I am on 500 mg of Metformin twice a day, Ramipril 2.2.5 mg and Atorvastatin 20 mg. Doc said my cholesterol was just very slightly elevated and with the diabetes wanted to put me on a cholesterol med for a while. well, I think I have rambled enough for now. I will probably think of some questions over the weekend and jump in here again if the old computer holds out. Otherwise, I will be reading on my iPad. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Hello Harry, Thanks for the advice on keeping address of list members. I really appreciate that suggestion. When I first joined the list, and everyone said how my meter would become my best friend, I really could not imagine that. I was deathly afraid of testing and very depressed over the fact that I am diabetic. I'm still not happy with that but oh well, I guess I am adjusting pretty well as time goes on. I test 6 or 8 times a day to see how I am reacting to different foods. The meter I have requires such a small amount of blood, that testing is not really that bad. I have taken the meter with me in my backpack to work every day this week. I am very happy that this list is in existence. Everyone seems so friendly and caring. I read every single post after I joined, and received such wonderful advice. I just kept thinking about so many things that were said here. You all were such an inspiration to me and I just want you all to know you truly made a difference in my life and my adjustment to coming with this crappy disease. It is so wonderful to have everyone here for support and information. Thanks to each of you for your kindness. Well, I have rambled enough for now. Take care all, Lynn Re: Update on me Lynn, I congratulate you on finding your new best friend. Always hang in here. Guest guest
Well ladies and germs! Got a new email program now, but still not up to speed on it like the outlook express was. Went to see the diabetes specialist to day for my second A1C since last February and it came down from 5.9 in June to now 5.8. he was very pleased since back in February it was 12.3 and 13.2 before that. The weight is hanging in there at 285. the no where bike ride is still happening daily, but I know to many calories is the problem now. Plan to get better and will check in later to let you know where and how the numbers are doing. Sure hope this post doesn't show up at the bottom like it did last time. Not posting much for now, but reading all and soon will be back to normal ramble soon as I can. All do try and have a blessed week. Be smelling you up the trail. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Lora Leggett Sent: Friday, September 07, 2012 2:47 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: Update on me Hi Lynn, A talking jump rope?
