We are all here holding our breath waiting for Mark to speak up! Smile!

Where is everyone?

Been very quiet on the list. Mark, are you okay? Sugar where are you?

Maybe the quiet list means everyone is okay?

I have been wondering the same thing.

Here's an update on me. My A1C drawn on 8/31 was 5.9 - YES! I have been

logging my BG levels, my exercise, and my foods eaten. I have gone through

a series of 4 diabetes classes, been seeing a diabetes nurse, and now am

seeing a nutritionist. I am still taking Metformen, Januvia, and 12 units

of Lantis. I am feeling much better than I have in a long time and am

trying to stay on track.

Some of the things from this list that have helped me get to this spot are

Mark's humor and candor and everyone else's knowledge and support. Thanks

for being the fantastic group you are.

I am here. I went to the doctor today and my A-1-c is 7.4. my creatine is 1 and

my bun is 23. I thought that a normal bun was 20. Nurse pat, does your bun deal

with kidney function? I am needing to have a wisdom tooth pulled and could this

cause my sugar to be a little higher? Thank you in advance. I just thought of

something else, I was taken off of biata and placed on victroza, this was done

about a month ago, could that make a difference as well? Thanks in advance.

Well, I've had a busy day, interrupted by a little nap late this afternoon!

Just now getting back to the computer and taking care of some tasks.

Great report, Lynn!

The list is truly a great resource, but it's the people who make up the

list!

If you're wondering about Mark, he has a new Windows 7 computer and is using

Windows Live Mail. And, he hates it! That's why he hasn't been on lately.

He is going to have MS Outlook installed. Then, maybe he can return to

being his good old rambling self.

Good luck Mark

i, TOO, HATED WINDOWS 7 LIVE MAIL. After my last computer crash I had a new hard

disk drive installed on my old mother board, and then installed windows xp, so I

could use outlook express once again.

Yes it is true. The pig is working on learning a new way to

ramble on the pc. Live mail sucked and so does this Microsoft what ever it

is. Sir Don Hansen who is a fine old man, 92 I think, but don't let him know

I told you. Will he will have to hook up to my pc and make the changes so

this pile of poop will work as it should. Kind of like riding a bike for

two. Kind of cool how he tried to do it last week with the live mail pile of

stuff I had and got rid of. Good o out look express is what I need back, but

hear old timers and old farts like me has to get ready for change and like

it no matter. Seems like out look express is going to die soon like

everything else in our life dies that we love. I think they who are in

charge of pc's and all the programs are trying to slow us down who dig the

ramble. Then again could be it is just about money and this is another way

of making more of it. I'm like an old dog trying to learn a new trick. The

saw bones told me to day I'm the only patient out of more then 100 that he

has coming to see him for diabetes that has got the A1C down as fast and

held it there for six months now. He did tell me to take ten units at night

when my sugar was over 130, but so far the most units I have taken at bed

time is only five and most nights I take none. The bed times sugars have

been running between 95 and 110 at bed time. Hate to pitch $200 worth of

insulin in the trash, so will keep it and use it when the times come that I

think I got to eat the house down. Have had the five new pens for 2 months

now and haven't ran out of the free test pen his nurse gave me back in June.

I'm thinking it may last at least 2 years as long as I leave it in the ice

box? The Met forman he wishes for me to continue to take. Can't seem to get

the pounds to move under 2/80, but no why and will change all of that soon.

The rides on the no where bike are staying as they always have been, but it

seems now I know I can eat a bit more and get away with it because of the

exercise. I've figured out that I can ride my no where bike for thirty

minutes or 45 minutes right after a meal and my sugar will come right down

to where it needs to be. This does add up to 90 minutes a day of bike rides,

but it really will keep the sugar under control even if you eat half of the

cow. Doesn't help the pounds come off, but does wonders for the sugar

control. Can't send new messages yet, so have to hook on to a reply as this

is. I can't even find my address book any where on my pc. Well the don is

much smarter then I and he will have to fix me up to morrow or some day this

week. I'm not liking this program either, but it is better then the windows

live mail that I had. Even though I haven't been posing to my buds, I have

been reading all and keeping up with what is going on. Suppose I should get

my pig butt in bed now. Probably should take a shower first or my wife may

make me sleep on the floor instead of in the bed. Seems to me us folks who

are getting older shouldn't have to take as many showers as we did when

younger? I'm now retired and can't smell as bad as I once did after working

all day. I think now I could get by with one shower a week and still not

smell bad? Pig's realy are very clean animals and I'm sure I smell better

then a pig! Do love you guys and have missed you all. The fine ramble is a

thing that I do so love to do and got a lot of catching up to do when sir

Hansen takes care of this silly email program I got now. Pc's are way over

my head. I can make about anything our of wood and run saws and figure them

out, but these computer's are way over my head, but still glad I have one

and couldn't stop needing it. Can't beet it for staying in touch with all

your buds all at one time. Most of my old email buds are now hanging out on

face book and most of the list are also diing like my old outlook express

did. Well I haven't joined the face book game yet. Think I will hang out for

more money!

Your messages came through, Mark. You might be using Outlook 2010. It's

different, but doable. JAWS 14 (to be released in the near future) is

supposed to make using Outlook much easier. I sure hope so!

Glad to hear you're still maintaining the good control. It's good to know

you're out there listening in, even if it's hard for you to reply as you

once did. As I said, this will most likely be changing for the better.

Well he thinks it is because my hormones levels are messed up. He took 3

bottles of my blood and now we wait to see what comes from it. I still

believe I figured out I could eat larger amounts of food and exercise it

off. The main problem is though, I'm holding my weight in check but not

dropping it because of the extra calories. Would love to blame it on

hormones or anything other then my self, but facts are still facts and I

have to admit the problem is me and do something about it. Old habits are

way to easy to repeat if we don't pay attention. We all dig the pass time of

eating and eating what we desire, but getting rid of extra weight means

cutting down on calory in take and more exercise. This is the only formula

that works to take off unwanted pounds. I was shocked that my A1C was 5.8

and not 6.5. been enjoying lo5ts of fresh fruit that I have been picking up

from the farmers market and man is it ever so good! Love the summer with all

the gardens. Not the same with the hot house fruit and veggies we can get in

the winter. Hate the heat of the summer, but with out the heat the gardens

wouldn't grow right. The saw bones did say that most of his men patiets my

size are on 200 or 300 units of insulin a day and they got piles of trouble

to boot. They like most folks believe the insulin willl take care of the

diabetes and they can continue on with all the bad eating habits and be ok.

I suppose most folks would rather take a truck load of meds then change

there life style and feel better. I my self hate the feeling that out of

control sugars will cause you to feel. This right way may not add any more

years to my life, but at least it will cause me to have a better quality of

life. He did say he expected my A1C to go up to 7 or 8 because this is what

happens to most of his patients. He was happy to see mine actually stayed

the same and even went down a bit. He told me to only use the lantus when I

needed it which isn't that much. But at least I do have it if I mess up or

just have a high bed time sugar level. He told me to stop testing my sugar

so many times a day and twice a day was enough, but of course I ignored his

advice and told the nurse to put me down for eight times a day. She listened

to me and ignored him as well. My HDL came up to 65, but my LDL is to high

at 130. looks like a new pill is coming in my future from what I could

gather from what he was saying. Back in March of this year MY hdl WAS 31. I

GUESS THE EXERCISE GOT IT UP. Ok, enough ramble for now. Got to jump up and

do the house cleaning that has to happen to day. Takes about four hours to

vacuume and mop and the dusting and bathrooms, but it always causes my sugar

test to go way down in to the ninety's. my doc told me to simply keep moving

and if nothing else just walk around the room. He said if I sit for more

then 2 hours total in a day from get up until go to bed, then I'm sitting to

much. Hard to ramble on the pc standing up. Eating while standing works good

though. He said if I just had to sit around, then sit on my no where bike

and ride while my back side was resting. He said to throw out the chairs in

the house and the TV. Then once I get out of bed of the morning stay on my

feet moving to and fro until bed time. Muscles burn calories and carbs as

well. Of course he said he and his family needs to as well listen to his

advice he was telling me. I'm getting better about doing more moving about,

but not there yet.

Think I will hang out for

more money!

He is going to have MS Outlook installed. Then, maybe he can return to

Been very quiet on the list. Mark, are you okay? Sugar where are you?

Maybe the quiet list means everyone is okay?

Your getting your doctor trained very nicely, Mark! LOL

Interesting about your HDL jumping from 31 to 65. I've been told repeatedly

mine is low due to genetics. And it has indeed stayed in the 20s for years.

Maybe I should try riding to nowhere for a little while!

I do get up quite a number of times a day, but when Mark mentioned about

sitting for 2 hours, well, it hit pretty close to home. I do the steps a

number of times intentionally, both to help my insulin circulate, and just

to do the steps.

Interesting about your HDL jumping from 31 to 65. I've been told repeatedly

I'm getting better about doing more moving about,

but not there yet.

Think I will hang out for

more money!

I can tell you for sure, if you got a pc, then you are sitting on your

back side to long a day. I did write down when I sit and for how long just

so I could see. I wasn't impressed! I do believe though that moving is the

best plan to get rid of calories faster. Riding the no where bike 2 hours a

day is grate, but then if I sit for six hours or more as well in the same

day? Well looks to me as if I may have wasted the 2 hours of bike. Does make

for better sleeping when you move all day long. I stood all day at work most

days for over 33 years and had no problem sleeping through the night. Now

waking up ten times during the night is getting way old fast. Seeing as how

hard it is for the fat pig to get up and down from the floor, maybe having

no chairs is the way to go? Wouldn't be as likely to sit on the floor

knowing I had to finally get back up after a bit. Can't just walk around in

circles all day and do nothing, so guess I will clean a room real good each

day. The house is big enough that it will take all week and then I start a

new week and repeat it again. House will look better then most sighted folks

homes do and I can't spend to much time on my back side this way. The doc

told me I still had two legs and my feet were both still there to use. So he

said to use them so I wouldn't loose them by not using them. Eat less,

exercise more and staying on your feet most of the day moving the muscles

causes weight to go away faster. Maybe I can learn to dance and dance for

the neighbors during the day. Probably scare the crap out of most of them. I

do read a lot. Well I should say I listen to books. I guess I can start

listening while I walk around in circles? Maybe run in place instead? I sure

do enjoy my easy chair. Maybe what I need is a set of peddles to hook my

feet in to at night as I sleep so my leg muscles will be exercising as I

sleep? Just tie them on and flip the switch on and drift off to never, never

land. Maybe lone of those tan and tone beds you can get on and it pulls you

and twist you up in a knot? Maybe need to buy me one of those toning beds

for my house. No tan for me, but could go for some toning. They say that

stretching now is getting real popular and it is good for you as well. Maybe

I could do me some of that as well. Make me taller and the extra weight will

spread out and make me look smaller around. Lets see, I'm now six foot, so I

could get stretched out to seven foot and look like I only weighed 185

instead of 285.

time is only five and most nights I take none.

I'd need to figure out how to work on my full-length novel (presently

contracted for 3 per year) while not sitting. Hmmm. Perhaps I need a

secretary to follow me around and I would simply dictate? LOL

Lets see, I'm now six foot, so I

could get stretched out to seven foot and look like I only weighed 185

instead of 285.

to do the steps.

Interesting about your HDL jumping from 31 to 65. I've been told repeatedly

Kind of like riding a bike for

everything else in our life dies that we love. I think they who are in

charge of pc's and all the programs are trying to slow us down who dig the

of making more of it. I'm like an old dog trying to learn a new trick. The
