Hi kevin,

My name is and I also have type 2 diabetes. I was diagnosed seven

years ago. It is nice to meet you. Welcome to the group! There are some

very nice and caring people here.

Thanks for the welcome, and Becky. I'm Lynn Shields husband, she's also

a recent member of this list.

My meter is a voice mate accucheck. It's a beast to take with you when you

travel. I've just ordered the Prodigy no code. That's the meter that Lynn uses.

Humana which is my insurance only pays for that talking meter. I really wanted

the Prodigy Voice, guess I'll have to brake down and buy one some day.

The thing I have trouble staying away from is ice cream. That's my weakness.

Fortunately for no sugar added ice cream. But it still has carbs.

Take Care,

I know what you mean about ice cream but I haven't had it in about 3 years

now.

I am keeping that a1c down.

I never established a limit on icecream and I believe that is waht turned me

from a drug type2 diabetic into an insulin dependent type2 diabetic.btw how many

grams of carbs do you consume in your icecream at a single setting.I could

easily eat a half gallon of regular icecream, my favorite treat.

I don't know how many

carbs I consume with the amount of ice cream I eat. I try to limit my self to

just one bowl. But before I became a diabetic, I could eat at least a half gal

an in two days.

I don't know why you didn't get the Prodigy Voice. If you are entitled to a

meter, you are entitled to a fully audible meter if you are blind or have a

severe visual impairment. Are you buying it outright?

Ice cream varies widely. I believe vanilla is the worst. Believe it or not,

chocolate is probably the better choice if you're going to eat ice cream.

Oh Good, I got some single serving ice creams by Blue Bunny and Blue Bunny

doesn't have much sugar from what I've been told.

They even have the little spoon inside of the lid.

Welcome . I am type 1 for 68 years. I use an insulin pump. Your

weakness is ice cream, mine are potato chips. So the only way they get in

the house is if someone brings them! I never buy them.

Our insurance humana doesn't pay for the prodigy voice. It does pay for the no

code. So we'll get the strips and lansets, and then pay for the voice. With

Lynns ordering on line, we should be able to get the voice at a pretty

reasonable price.
