OT -- wild cat story

Some of y'all will get a great chuckle out of the evening we've had tonight.

One of my cats -- BiddeFur -- has used up another life. This time she

scared herself to death. My Mom (age 83, and recently moved in with us)

had just finished emptying one of the plastic grocery bags and so, of

course, BiddeFur stuck her head in the bag to investigate. Yes, you know

what happened next. Her head got hung in the handle and she ripped

through the house like a terrified rocket, peeing every inch of the way.

Imagine the mark of Zorro in urine across our living room carpet!

After blazing across the living room 3 times in less than a second (I

kid you not), she raced into our bedroom and disappeared. I mean she was

totally not to be found anywhere! My hubby took a flashlight and

wriggled up inside that narrow center section under the bed, but there

wasn't any sign of her. We were both sure we were going to find her hung

on something with a broken neck or strangled, so we were searching

rather frantically. I started pulling the drawers out one by one, so we

could see under the bed better. In drawer #5, she was cowering, shaking

like a leaf and I could feel her heart just going lickety split, with

the bag still tangled all around her and soaked to the skin with pee.

The question now is how did she get inside the drawer???!!!! (And of

course, all the sheets and pillowcases in that drawer now have to be

washed, too.) We'll have to shampoo all the carpet because she left a

" trail of tears " (or something like that!) all over the living room,

dining room, hallway, and our bedroom. The house should be particularly

aromatic by tomorrow.

I took her into the bathroom, carefully extracted her from the bag

handles, and held her until she finally stopped shaking. (Yes, my

clothes were soaked in her urine at the end of this ordeal) When I

finally set her down, I realized I had blood on my shirt. Wonderful! So,

then I had to examine this still very scared puss until we could find

what was bleeding. Turns out, she had ripped out one front claw. I don't

know whether it will grow back or not. After I've rested a bit, I must

go back and bathe her .... that oughta be a blast.

So, our poster child for " Curiosity Killed the Cat " remains at the top

of her game. No slowing down for her! No sirree!!! This means she's down

to only 7 lives now. (For any newbies -- her 1st life was used up in

December by eating about 20 yards of sewing thread, requiring emergency

surgery and a week in the vet hospital.)

Take care,

Carolyn

Carolyn,

What a vivid story! I am glad it wasn't you bleeding. What a night.

Poor kitty! My kitty is so scared of everything, she would never give

us this good of a story. She is scared of my kids...although that

might be slowing changing...she did go in and sleep with Noah the other

night.

Love you, Carolyn...

We had something similar happen to us many years ago. One of our

thoroughbreds picked up a plastic bag that had blown into the paddock.

Of course, as soon as she started running it made a tremendous noise

that followed her everywhere she ran. She finally managed to open he

mouth and drop it.

Fortunately, the mare stayed out of the dresser!

Poor kitty!
