urso post tx

Hi all

i am still in hospital but doing well. Rejection issues seem to have

all settled down. I am now starting on oral warfarin (blood thinner)

and when they have the right level i can go home (yipee). I still have

a drainage bag on from the wound but that is slowing now. The staff at

the hospital ahve been fantastic & really look after you.

One question: I was asking about staying on urso post tx as i had

understood from dr. chapman previously that it is protective against

colon cancer. My tx docs say i can go on it if i want to, but my

felling is they don't think it really necessary, as i presume the

evidence is scant. they seem to think there is a lot more point being

on urso pre tx than post tx.

does anyone have any thoughts on this pse?

Thanks

ps there are a couple of people on the ward one who had psc who may

need a second tx because of problems with the artery to the new liver.

Apparently blood flow / clotting is a particular issue for psc

transplantees.

Dear Tim, I am on URSO post transplant. I take 3 a day. My docs at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center have,I think, all of us post tx livers on it.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Take care,

Ali

was on it for years before the tx and after they said with him being a living donor recipient the ducts are smaller and the Actigall will thin the bile and make it less likely he will obstruct.Martisttimbo wrote: repost. if anyone has any thoughts i wd be grateful to see b4 i leave the hospital which hopefully will be by the w/e. > One question: I was asking about staying on urso post tx as i had > understood from dr. chapman previously that it is protective against > colon
