Knowledge is power. Something like that, right? Better to know you're high

than not to know it. It's a long road to tighter control, Becky, but it's

one you can travel. Hang in there, as always!

Hi List,

Today before eating, my sugar was 171.

Kind of high.

I didn't like hearing as you all said, but glad I got a reading.

Hello Becky,

Glad you are testing and able to get a reading. I really do not like not

knowing what my sugare level is. My doctor wants me to test only twice a day.

I will usually test at least twice, if not four or five times. If I run out of

strips, I will by some at work. We sell the Prodigy strips for $12.00 per

bottle.

and I each ordered the Prodigy Voice meter yesterday. I will let you all

know how we like it once we get it in and use it.

Take care Becky and keep up the good work.

My diabetic educator told me that once a day was okay.

Today was 171 and then 143.

Becky,

I don't want to come across too cynical, but don't think your diabetic

educator is necessarily always right. I will argue you need to check more

than once a day, especially when you're trying to acclimate to diabetes. A

reading of 171 (I think this was your number) before a meal is too high.

It's better than 250, or 300, but it's still too high. Going one step

further, what you also need to check is 2 hours after eating. This is the

real measure so you can know both, if your meds are correct, and if you're

eating the right amount of food.

I could ramble on, but I'll quit for now! I want to help, but do yourself a

favor, and always take what your diabetic educator says and process it, as

you're doing, if by no other means, by running it by us on the list. I think

you've come a long way, and you're going to see those numbers come down even

more!

Thanks Dave. I thought that 171 was too high too.
