Guest guest
Hi Jim, I have used an Inogen that was provided by my 02 Co. It was ok but the only thing I wanted to tell you is remember they only go to 6L so it is a lot of money if you are already on a 4 or 5 L situation.Jane just recently bought one so I am sure she will respond to you.How about your Gov. cool Love and Prayers, Peggy IPF 2004, Florida"Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up." Hey Folks, I'm trying to gather info about a portable unit. All I know of them is that they operate on batteries and the batteries don't last very long.........and their not cheap. If anyone uses a machine like this and could take a moment I'd really appreciate it. Questions like.......why did you choose that one? What do you like/dislike about it? How long do the batteries take to recharge. Thank You,jim IPF 05alaska btw................the answer is "NO"..........I don't think she was a wise choice. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I used the Inogen a couple of times for air travel. It was OK, Bulky for me. the first time my o2 company loaned it to me, the second time they rented it to me. Both times there was a defective battery, it only reached 70% capacity, so it's timing was less than what it should have been. Easy to recharge. I know someone who rented a Sequel Eclipse for a car trip. Was very pleased with it. It is kind of heavy for me, but i would use it if necessary. I saw someone with a Respironics. It's small and looks easy to use. Don't know anything about maximum liters per minute on any of them. Recently Invacare came out with the XPO2, small, lite weight, "pulse dose delivery settings 1-5" I am looking for a portable unit, not necessarily a concentrator, just an everyday unit, that has wheels. The Helios and the M6 are heavy for me to carry, so i put them in a stroller when i walk the dog or go shopping, etc. Does anyone have any other suggestions for wheels for these small units? Guest guest
Jim, I did use a portable concentrator in Aug 07 when I flew to HI. I don't recall the name of the one I used but I did purchase a device on line that enabled me to hook it to the airline electricity temporarily which I had to do as Delta did not have my big oxygen takes loaded on the plane when we boarded so I used my concentrator on board for about 15 min. The batteries do not last long and do take a long time to recharge so you need to take several batteries with you. My oxygen provider provided the unit for me at the time. There are units that last longer but they arer expensive to purchase. Judy IPF 10/06 TX 8/22/07 Lung Collapse and Rejection 11/07 and now rejection again and will be hospitalized Tues. I got it from my o2 sulpplier and he was very kind and let me pay on time. the battery runs anywhere from 3 to 10 hrs depending on the setting.your on. I keep mine at 1 but I am also working my way alittle at a time off o2 per my doctor. It takes 3hrs for the battery to charge but i charge in my car and always keep the extra belt with me. Guest guest
Hi Joyce, I put my M6s in a small carry on suitcase that has wheels. It is so easy to cart 3 or 4 tanks and easy to manuever. Guest guest
Hi air buds, I bought a Sequal Eclipse II concentrator back in April in anticipation of a car trip to FL. Although my o2 company says they will loan one out, it was always spoken for when I wanted to reserve it. And, yes, I would have rather spent the $$ on a lot of other things. (for me it will be a medical tax deduction). There are “deals” on the internet, but you need to make sure you are purchasing the latest model, which is the Eclipse II, because they have made some improvements in the software that runs the machine. The reason for this unit is that it will deliver 1-3 liters continuously and 1-6 on pulse, which I believe is the highest I have found so far. The battery lasts about 2 hours and gives you plenty of notice that it is running low. Eventually I hope to buy another battery, but they run around $300. In the car, you plug it into the cigarette lighter and the battery keeps recharging while you are using it. If you plug it into a regular wall outlet, the battery will recharge much faster. One word of caution which they don’t tell you—in order to keep the battery charging while you are using it in the car and not setting off alarms, we had to have another source of electricity installed directly off the battery so that the machine would charge while it was in use. Cost was about $200 . Has something to do with amps or volts which I don’t pretend to understand. I just know it works. I am pleased with the performance and its looks. It’s like pulling one of those little suitcases on wheels. The handle goes up and down so in a restaurant it fits nicely under the table. I’m happy to answer any other questions.
