Guest guest
J.D. Recently had hernia surgery(2-26-07) on the adominal region where his ostoemy was after take down in 2000. In 2004 he was diagnosied with PSC. He is now remaining in the hospital with slow bowel. It this something common with J-pouch as he had this with the colon removal and the ostomy take down in 2000. Could it be related to general anesthia. Any one with history of this.
Guest guest
Anesthesia REALLY slows you down. In my experience, it may take several days to get back to " normal " . For at least one of my surgeries (laminectomy, I think), I got milk of magnesia to " hurry things along " . Arne =========================================================== J.D. Guest guest
Any surgery affecting the bowel slows things down for a few days. That is why we generally put in a naso-gastric tube to prevent backup and vomiting because extreme vomiting can result in the surgical site can open up due to the stress on the sutures.
