Toe walking and increased dosage

My identical twins (apraxic) both toe walked from the beginning..but they can

walk flat...when they entered pre-school hand. the PT wanted them to wear

hi-tops and workboots so that we could tie the laces tightly and it made it

really difficult to get up on your toes in that type of shoe. One set of laces

started at the toe and stopped at the ankle and the second set of laces were to

start at the ankle(where you usually tie your shoe) and go up to the top of the

hi-tops. This way they could also be made tight. Their SLP found an article on

toe-walking and apraxia, but that was 5 years ago and God knows where that

article is. I have read that toe-walking is a sign of something wrong

neurologically..which would make sense for the twins. My first child also toe

walked and any specialist I brought him to said it was nothing and he did stop.

My second child never toe-walked. So go figure??!! It wasn't a sensory thing

for any of my kids and my twins still do toe- walk at times, but I don't know if

it is habit or what...I was told to keep reminding them to " walk flat " . They do

have nice (calf) muscles! I think they would have made excellent ballerinas and

perhaps this gives them the speed and agility that they need in soccer as they

just made the traveling " A " team..Had to brag about something as I have upped

the fish oils and am really trying to be consistent (like Dawn :) and all 4 are

driving me crazy, but I am going to work through it to see if I see a speech

improvement in the twins--they definitely slip in the summer- or handwriting for

my oldest or attention for my second....I keep thinking of the Little Engine

that Could....re: their increased activity that most of us see... " I think I can,

I think I can " ....Maybe I should increase my zanax...what do you think??? Kathy
