Guest guest
Debbie - No I have not done anything yet. I live in Va Beach, Va and would love to have Dr. Rutledge do MGB. I am trying to gather as much info from people who were sucessful with their insurance that live out of state before I attack. I want to make sure ALL my ducks are in a row. I have talked to my insurance company and have found out that it must be " medically necessary. " And to be honest I just am not sure where to start. I do not have $15,000 hanging around, so I want to do this right. ANY and all insight is welcome! Thanks! Cassandra
Guest guest
Hi, Well I really did not have no trouble at all.Thank the Lord First I called my insurance comp. my self to find out if thay would cover the MGB surgery. Then I made my fisrt appt. with Dr.R. I think the most important part of approval by the insurance comp. is how well the patient criteria is filled out.You have got to be VERY detailed and have tried other methods of weight loss.I thought I had been turned down because it took three months for the insurance comp. to let Debbie know or not if they were going to pay. On my patient criteria I wrote down weight loss methods for the age of 13 up until now. So mine was in full detail.Have you done this? I sorry I could not be of more help on that but I guess i'm one of the luckier ones who did not have much trouble with there inc. Good luck! If so, calculate your BMI on the website and you'll have proof if you are morbidly obese. From there, submit your patient info. form online and talk to your PCP about a support letter (and referral if your Ins. co. requires it). Have you gotten a copy of the Patient Manual yet? You can get it by mail and/or download it from the website. If you get it via snailmail, you will also get a multi-page list of MGB Post-op contacts. Finally, start going through the 12 steps Dr. R. outlines and you'll be there before you know it! Best of luck! {{HUGS}} Claire Redhead in FL Clinic 4/8/00, 1pm MGB 4/10/00 !!!!
