Wheelchair Lift

Hi All -

I searched for info about wheelchair lifts and only found a 'thread'

about the Easy Travel Scooter. I bought one of those used, in NC for

$500.

Now, I'm in CA (SF Bay area) and need to get a lift to use with it in

nmy 97 Chrysler T & C miniva. Again, I was lucky and found one about 30

mi. from me for sale on craigslist. My friend drove me over today to

check it out. It is like new and looks like it will work fine. I

just want to contact the local dealer to see if it 'fits' my minivan.

It looks fairly easy to install (no welding or anything), you just

remove the 3rd seat, and fasten the lift to the U-bolts that the seat

'clips' onto in the minivan. The man selling it showed me how it

installs and said had he known how simple it was, he would not have

paid for the installation. It has a remote control on a 4 ft. cord

that you can use to raise/lower the lift from the back of the minivan.

The wheelchair or scooter is driven up onto the lift base, and there

are two 'panels' that come up to secure the wheelchair during the lift

or exit mode. This is made by 'Pride' (they also make wheelchairs) and

costs more than $2k new. The man is selling it for $800 and one of my

sons or s-i-l's will install it for me (apparently the dealer charges

$1000 for that).

So just info for any of you wanting/needing to get a scooter and/or lift.

Now, if I can just get my O2 issues straightened out...I keep using

the fill part of the concentrator to fill one of the M6 cylinders

(which takes a long time) and then even though (I, my friend, my

s-i-l) have all tried to properly shut the valves (it doesn't have any

helpful little arrows or open/close writing...and yes, I DO KNOW

clockwise from counter-clockwise)...but it still leaks out all of the

O2 overnight, so that when I want to go out and use it...it is empty.

Any help or suggestions (other than calling the supplier

again...which I'll do tomorrow)???
