, , Tom, "Megpie", Dr. Aubrey, and (mom of Suzanne),

My apologies if I've left anyone out.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with some other family illness and haven't had much

e-mail time. I'm getting back on track and wanted to thank you all for your responses to my question about when to seek help for a flare up. I appreciate your feedback and advice from your personal experiences. It's only been a year since diagnosis, I want to provide my daughter with the best care, but neither do I want to create panic every time there is a change from the norm (or what is now the norm).

, I certainly will hold on to that article, it had lots of information and will be a good reference. The review of medications was particularly helpful. (how do you find these amazing articles?)

Dr Aubrey, Glad to hear your response about needing a private room, I have to admit I was rather surprised when I heard that suggestion, and thought I was missing something. JP has continued on the Pentasa (higher dose) and appears to be getting back to normal, no pain, no diarrhea, no blood, and best of all, no look of despair... She had tried to increase the dosage in the past, but at the same time, added Fish oil to her meds, had the beginnings of what she thought was a flare, so she stopped the fish oil and went back to the original dose of Pentasa. I'm assuming now, that it was the fish oil that caused the problem back then. I only hope at some time, perhaps a different brand, she will be able to start fish oil again.

To all the nurses, current and future, I appreciate all your words of experience and encouragement. Nice to hear that the immunosuppressants haven't interfered with your personal lives and your employment. I shared your feedback with JP, which she appreciated, but was quick to tell me that "Labor and Delivery" is not a first choice.. certainly many other options out there.

, (mom of Suzanne), you and Suzanne are in my prayers, I do hope she continues doing well in her recuperation. I appreciate you even taking the time to respond to me, as I'm sure you have many other things to be concerned about. Thanks for pointing out about getting varied answers to the same question. I guess we will learn through trial and error what is the best route for us to take along this road.

Again, I thank you all for your help. As you all know, it is not easy to know your child doesn't feel well, and you don't have any magic answers. (no matter what age). I am so glad that I found this group and have benefited from the many discussions and articles that are shared.

Pam - Mom of JP, 19 y/o (Crohn's, Colitis/ Jan 2006, PSC/March 2006)
