can someone tell me how one can tell the difference between hives and

not hives? My son who was diagnosed with PSC sometime in June 2005

after months of tests. Anyway last year around June while visiting

his uncle and cousins in virginia, he had an allergic reaction to

something and had welt or swellings commonly seen in allergic reaction

which got worse with scratching. He had it once more when he returned

home in Florida. Since then nothing but on Saturday after going for a

March of Dimes walk, he came up with the same reaction later in the

afternoon. By night, he had welts in most places. I rubbed on some

cortisone and gave him an allergy tablet. Didn't have anything else

at home and then it was nearly midnight. As with the other

occasions, they had practically all vanished by morning apart from

his eyes which wre still swollen. We don't know what he may be

allergic to, if anything.

I want to ask his doctor about them but since quite a number here have

had hives, if it is hives, is it normal to have them gone by morning

or they linger? Also will benedryl or piriton work? Any information

is appreciated.

Thanks

Rita
