The extraordinary 46-year-old was waiting for a liver

after being diagnosed more than 10 years ago with a rare condition called

primary sclerosing cholangitis

(PSC), an inflammatory disease of the bile duct which eventually leads to the

duct becoming blocked. Fortunately he

received a liver about seven months ago and has since recovered well. But it was Sunday’s heroic efforts which really

marked him out as a true winner……….
