We tried the BTE but it¹s too big for us. He turns his head and it falls off because it gets knocked off by his shoulder. So we do the body worn and just pin it to his clothes. I¹m currently trying to come up with a good solution for keeping it on him since the harness included with the implant is clearly designed for a larger child. Our audi advised against the mini for him since it has no ports on it for other devices. Others on this list have the mini and just love it, so I am wondering if we made a mistake not going with that option. Good luck! -
Guest guest
Hi everyone, Let me preface this question with I have a 7 y.o. son with bilateral Freedom's. I am very familiar with the BTE version of this implant, but my question is for my soon to be implanted 1 y.o. daughter. I was just looking for input on your experience with the body worn vs. the BTE--and what about the mini? My school is very biased about getting the body worn since it is smaller for the baby, but we went straight to the BTE for my son since he was 3 1/2 when he was implanted.. Let me know your opinion ASAP--we pick out the device on thurs am and implant Nov. 28th!!!! YEA!!!! Have a great day.. TRaci
Guest guest
I'd think the regular Freedom BTE would be too big but wondering if your audiologist has a mini that you could look at? Good luck! Guest guest
My one big reason for the body worn (and I have a daughter who has 2 body worn freedom's) is if they fall off they are still connected to their body. I always worry about them falling off and hitting the floor or someone stepping on them. I also love the fact that it is smaller and can fit on her ear so much easier. Hope this helps.
