Guest guest
Hi all-(sorry if this is a duplicate post. My original post vanished while I was typing). I had my first photoderm treatment on Friday and it seemed like it went pretty well. However I woke up yesterday looking worse than I have in months. This brought me to the point of tears; something I have not allowed to happen in quite a while. My face was and is swollen and red. I came very close to calling in sick to work. As it was, I was seriously late and my co-workers were worried, because they knew I had photoderm on Friday and thought something must have gone wrong. Today, I'm just as bad as I was yesterday. My eyes were so swollen when I awoke, I could hardly see. I have spent a good amount of time this morning trying to bring down the swelling with gel packs, ibuprofen and decongestants. It's a little better, but I still look like an alien! My question is--is this common after photoderm? I thought I had been taking it easy on my skin afterwards. Maybe a little too easy? Normally I use the cea Ltd disks in combination with demodicidin soap and this has kept me flare free for quite a while. Since the treatment, I have been using the AR Lite cream and emu oil. Could it be a reaction to emu oil? I also avoided exercise for 24 hours afterwards as Dr. Bitter had cautioned. I did go for a very light run Sunday evening and that didn't induce any flushing. I just can't figure this out. Are post-photoderm flares common? How does everyone else manage these flares? I have a very busy work week planned with lots of client contact. Help! Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Hi , My email has been down again and is suppose to go back up sometime today so if you have sent me an email I haven't received it but should receive it when my email goes up. I think I'll be able to post to the group though so I'll try. I've never had a lot of swelling after treatment except this last time. But yes after having photoderm treatments, it seemed like I was flaring worse than I ever had. I was so upset and I wrote to the group a lot about it. It is very common for this to happen. Photoderm like I said before is so up and down. One minute your happy because your skin is doing so well and then a couple of days later your skin flares up for days and it gets you all down and thinking that photoderm is not helping. Photoderm will help though. It just takes a lot of patience. Something that is hard to have. I would have extra flaring for weeks. JIm has recommended using aloe with somethingin it I can't remember what its called but its the blue color. Thats what my doctor has me use after treatment. I have also learned to stay away from exercise and all other triggers inbetween treatments. It will get better it just takes time. If you need anyone to talk to just email me. Hopefully my email will be running by the end of the day. God Bless, Sheila > Hi all-(sorry if this is a duplicate post. Guest guest
Hi , Try not to worry too much, post photoderm flares are very common! It has happened to me after most of my treatments and can last at least two weeks. There is a healing period post treatment when damaged vessels are dropping out, new vessels are growing and a whole new micro-environment is being laid down. Your skin may become extra sensitive and more prone to flushing and swelling for a while. It gets better! I haven't used emu oil or A/R products, but it's possible that using new products during this time might be adding to the reaction. I find that vita oil is very soothing. Maybe you could try Benadryl for the swelling? It can sometimes help. Also sucking on ice chips/drinking lots of cold water might help, and a gentle fan to keep your face cool if it's practical. Hope you get great results from your treatment, Jen >My question is--is this common after photoderm? I thought I had been >taking it easy on my skin afterwards. Guest guest
, I have had 3 photoderm treatments so far and with the exception of the last one my face swelled considerably. After the 2nd and 3rd treatments my face flushed worse than usual for approx 2-3 weeks, but in the end the results were very good. > Hi , > > Try not to worry too much, post photoderm flares are very common!
