Guest guest
Yesterday Ken said “today is shaky hand day” and he held out his hand to show me he had the shakes. I asked how often does this happen and he said off and on. I Googled myself silly, but junk keeps coming up. Has anyone had this happen, should I be concerned? Guest guest
I don't know about Ken, but some tremors are genetic. Judy's mother was like that for at least the last 35 years, and I think she's inherited it. The GP said the same thing - " innocent " tremors. http://www.cureresearch.com/sym/hand_tremor.htm A cup of coffee will do it for me - another reason I don't drink it! Thanks Arne, but no one in the family has ever had a tremor and Ken doesn’t drink or eat anything with caffeine and hasn’t for quite some time (he swears caffeine makes him itch even more than normal.) I kept looking and think I figured it out, don’t know why I didn’t think about this sooner! It’s probably due to encephalopathy. Instead of flapping, he gets the shakes. We did notice he was a little cranky last week, but he seemed better this weekend, so we didn’t give it another thought, but both are signs. Guess we’ll have to watch him more closely. Barb, This has been very typical for me since the HE set in. Some days I have little to no shaking, but on other days I couldn't eat soup to save my life! Definitely, the irritability acts as a sort of marker for those days. Whenever I realize that I'm irritable for no apparent reason, I know (finally!) not to make any important decisions or even to attempt to cook supper on those days. Guest guest
Thanks Cindy & Carolyn, another question if you don't mind. If these are signs of the HE acting up again - shouldn't he be having problems with his memory and/or thinking too? Is it possible to only have the shaking hands and some minor irritability? Some days I have only a blip or two (which might be any one of the symptoms mentioned), and then there are those days when everything's out of whack. Short answer -- Yes, it's possible. Anything is possible with PSC. Regards, Carolyn B. in SC
Guest guest
My hands shake if I have 'over done' things, or if I am busy and forget to eat - would it be the same thing? Kym [psc 06]
