I'd go to Mayo. My hep has close ties with both UofM and Mayo, and recommends I

go to Abott for " normal " (read, cholecystectomy) surgeries and ERCPs. I had my

gallbladder surgery there, but all previous experience was with local hospitals

who shipped me to Mayo (gotta love them midnight ambulance rides!). I've never

been to UofM for PSC, however.

You're not a very " simple " case (like any of us are?), which I think is even a

better reason in Mayo's favor. I wouldn't worry too much about colonoscopies

(I've had 20 or so with my local GI - lost track). ERCPs, in my experience, are

a lot better done with someone who does it a LOT. When I had mine at Mayo, they

were scheduled every half hour or so - all day long!

I saw several Drs. at Mayo, but not Lindor (Poterucha,

http://www.mayoclinic.org/gi-rst/10640339a.html and Talwalkar

http://www.mayoclinic.org/gi-rst/11799072a.html). According to their website,

they see 900+ PSC patients per year. I don't recall who the endoscopist was - I

could look it up if you'd like.

I can't say about Mayo. My son goes to U of M and we love his docs. However, he's pediatrics, so I don't know anything about the adult GI's here. I do know that the doctor who does his ERCP's is wonderful. Sorry I can't be of more help. I would go to the Mayo. I went there when I was first diagnosed and

they did a great job verifing what my local doctor found. Be prepared

for a couple days of test. They do a great job.
