Guest guest
As stated before, IPods or MP3 players are great. If you have a portable DVD player take it because the TV at the hospital gets boring real fast. At least with a portable DVD, you can watch movies of various kinds. If you read, take your own books/magazines. When I had my transplant, I kept asking for books to read from their library and it took them halfway through my stay to ever bring me any. I wish you and your family the very best of luck!

Yeah, I do have an mp3 player, and I am working on getting some good audiobooks put on it in addition to music. I've also got a laptop that I should be able to watch dvds on too, so hopefully that will help. I'm bringing the entire extended version of The Lord of the Rings so that will keep me going for a while! Thanks for all the good suggestions! athan
Guest guest
>>> thinking about athan all day, does anyone know if he has a caring-bridge site for news? Lee He doesn’t! I’ve come to my computer every couple of hours for 2 days now checking for any news. Let’s all make a PSC pact – if anyone goes in for a transplant – please promise to have someone, anyone, let us know the surgery is over and all is well. No need for daily updates, but we sure would like to know the surgery went well. OK? Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
I also keep checking the web site to see if there is any new news. Would it be rude to call the center and talk to his wife, or other family member to get an update? I think this is part of why the group has been so quiet, we're all awaiting news. > > >>> thinking about athan all day, does anyone know if he has a > caring-bridge site for news? Lee > > He doesn't! Guest guest
-----Original Message----- Would it be rude to call the center and talk to his wife, or other family member to get an update? I would – except - the last thing he said was – I’ll talk to you when I can. To me, that means – don’t call me, I’ll call you. So I’m guessing we should wait a few more days until he is well enough to write us. I hope and pray he is doing well. Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
I just called the transplant center. athan didn't have any family in the room with him, but the nurse at the desk said that he is stable. She transferred me to his room anyway, and his nurse told me that he's doing very well. So, at least we know that much. Keep up the good thoughts everyone! > > -----Original Message----- > Would it be rude to call the center and talk to his wife, or other > family member to get an update? > > I would - except - the last thing he said was - I'll talk to you when I > can.
