PSC Literature: Temporary Disruption of Services

Dear All;

The PSC Literature web site (www.psc-literature.org) was developed as

a compilation of www Resources and scientific literature on PSC and

allied diseases (IBD (UC and Crohn's, and autoimmune diseases). It

has become heavily used around the world, in part because Google gave

us a free search engine, delivering results free of advertisements.

Unfortunately we have to pay for traffic on the web site in excess of

50 MB per month. Last September the useage grew to 4 GB per month,

and it was beginning to cost a small fortune to sustain this. To get

around this problem, we set up a mirror site (on insightbb.cam) to

draw traffic away from psc-literature. It now appears that insightbb

has pulled the plug on this mirror site because of its heavy use.

Therefore I need to go in and change all of the web pages to link

everything back to the original psc-literature site. The bottom line

is that there will be disruption of services until this is

accomplished. I apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.

Best regards,

Dave

,

Can we help pay for the web site? I’d be happy to contribute to it’s

up keep. You shouldn’t have to bare this burden

alone.

Dear Barb and Reggie, and others who have written to me privately;

thanks so much for your kind offers to contribute, or to host the

site elsewhere. I can't take you up on your offers yet, as I'd like

to explore some other options first, such as getting a corporate

sponsor. I'll let you know if this is successful or not.

Best regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Sorry for the delayed response, but Don and I are babysitting our two

grandkids this week, and that is taking all my energy! Dave, I wish that

you would reconsider and let PSC Partners repay you for all the past website

costs. It's something that the foundation should be paying for...

It does seem that the PSC Literature site serves two of the purposes

of PSC Partners, by promoting PSC and organ donation awareness, and

providing in depth education to PSC patients and their families as

well as others that use the site. I would not want the site to become

the only thing sponsored by PSC Partners, but I think that the cost of

such outreach should not be the burden of a few volunteers who

contribute financially to support the site. Neither should it fall on

Dave's shoulders. Dave's suggestion that a corporate sponsor might be

found seems like a viable one, especially if done in conjunction with

PSC Partners to provide the charitable umbrella for the project.
