Guest guest
Nikki One symptom of esophagitis is the feeling of something caught in the throat. When I had it, I also felt pain after swallowing acidic things, anything with vinegar, or soda, etc. Sometimes even milk would be difficult to swallow, like I had taken to much into my mouth and my esophagus could not stretch enough to swallow it. The docs ordered a scope to be sent down and the only treatment was to take nexium. My esophagus was swollen from acid reflux, caused by the meds. I still take nexium and have not had a problem since. Take Care MizKitSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Nikki, Which type of Ursodiol are you taking? With the Actigall formulation of ursodiol (powder in a pink/white capsule) I occasionally would get these really nasty solvent-smelling burps. Sometimes it would make me feel nauseated instead. I found taking calcium carbonate at the same time (ie, Tums or another Calcium supplement) lessened the queasy feeling and I was even able to take it on an empty stomach. If you are taking more than 500-600 mg of urso at the same time, you might want to spread it out more over the day, smaller doses also helped. I switched about a year ago to URSO and don't get the burps any more. But a few months ago I started getting a strange cold/burning sensation in the back of the throat. Acid reflux doesn't always feel like heartburn as MizKit can testify. I started taking Prilosec (cheaper than nexium because it's generic). The gastroenterologist doubled the dose from the usual over-the-counter dose for 2 weeks and told me to stop drinking coffee, eating chocolate and having acidic foods like orange juice. When I eventually complied with giving up coffee the symptoms went away. I was able to finish the course of prilosec and start coffee a few weeks later and now I feel fine- comfortable AND awake! He thought I didn't need to take prilosec continuously and I could restart coffee once I gave it a chance to heal. I had this once before about 8 years ago and took Ranitidine and it cleared up but that didn't work this time. I've been scoped many times since then and my esophagous is normal. Hope there's something you can use in there! Martha (MA) > My esophagus was swollen from acid reflux, caused by the meds. I still take > nexium and have not had a problem since.
