,

Did you get an inner-outer stent put in when they did your PTC? If so,

was it a painful procedure or painful afterwards? Did you have any

complications from having it in? Was it easy or complicated to care

for? And last, but not least, how long did you have to have it in

for? Thank you for your assistance.

Nikki,

I am not sure what you mean by inner or outer stent. I had a tube

that stuck out of my belly that was used to access the ducts to do

dialation and place stents. The procedure wasn't painful. They numb

the area really well. I can't remember if they gave anything for the

pain the first time or not. It isn't painful afterwards either. I did

develop a fever after the first one and had to spend a couple of days

in the hospital. I would always get antibiotics via IV before each

procedure. Care wasn't difficult. I had to flush it twice a day. I

had prefiled syringes and just attached to the end of the PTC and

flush. I was able to take showers, but could not go swimming. I had

the PTC for about 15 months. Every 6 weeks it needed to be changed.

It is more of an inconvienence than anything else. Sometimes I would

have to have a bag attached to catch the bile, otherwise it was capped

off.
