Dear Joy,

First of all, let me say that I am very sorry to hear of all your

problems. You've joined a group of great people who have

suffered as you have, and many are willing to help and to listen

whenever they can. After reading your story, I'll do my best to

answer your questions.

http://www.pharmanord.dk/product.htm

I have purchased them through Pharmanord, but have also

purchased them at a local health food store. It is easier for me

to purchase them locally, and the cost is the same as ordering

them from overseas. The antioxidants have made a tremendous

difference in my episodes with pain and I think have also

improved my overall health. I went for three months without any

pain, and although I have had to take my pain meds within the

last month for a few days, it was brief and quickly over. They

work well for some people, and I haven't heard of anyone with

any negative results. It's certainly worth a try.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. If

you've been reading the posts, I think you've seen that we have a

very active and supportive group, with a lot of people on board

who are always ready to help or listen. Please feel welcome to

post a question or your comments anytime.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi in SC

> I am new to this website and this horrible disease. I have

been " eavesdropping " if you will, for about a month. I have felt I

had nothing to add to what you have been going through so I

have just been learning from what all of you post here. I think I

am ready to come out of hiding with a question for you. I had my

first attack 11/16/2001 and the docs said it was acute brought on

by an antibiotic that I was taking for a urinary tract infection. Okay,

acute, not chronic. Went home after 7 days in the hospital.

Within 5 days the pain was back, nausea, weakness, ect. I went

back in the hospital the next week for 8 days. Docs did the

endoscopy, small bowels, x-rays, cat scan, the other scopy ( I

can't remember the name) and all the blood work ect. Nothing

was to be found except a little gastritis. BUT apparently, while I

was in the hospital, I became very anemic. There was talk of a

blood transfusion ( I heard this from the nurses, not the doctors).

All they wound up giving me was mega doses of iron. Then

poof, I was discharged. Sent home to resume my " normal diet " .

No pain meds (I got darvocet after the first time), not instructions,

except if I ran a temp. to call the doc right away. Again, within 5

days, I returned to the nausea, pain, ect. Went to the doctor after

another week of this stuff and the doc said " :well, maybe you

have chronic pancreatitis " . " We are going to try some enzymes. "

So I have been on enzymes for about a month (Kutrase),

apparently a low dosage. Plus he gave me Lortab for pain.

> The Kutrase did wonders for the nausea, but the pain keeps

me really down. Went back to the doc yesterday, he increased

the Kutrase and put me on Vicodin. I'm not sure it is doing

anymore than the Lortab did. My question to you is, have you ever

heard of anyone going from acute to chronic so fast? and what is

antioxidant? I would do anything to get off these pain killers as

much as I can. I can hardly do anything all day long. I'm sorry if I

talked you ear off, but as you well know, this is sooooooo

frustrating.

> Thanks for any info you can give me. Hope you have a great

day.

Dear Heidi,

Happy Valentines Day!

Thank you for such a quick response and all of the information. I wish I could

say I had been as quick to respond. I have really been feeling lousy and have

been in bed mostly, plus I really have been having a hard time remembering and

focusing. Could you please tell me your story of CP and it's progression? Is

there any hope that it will not progress any farther? I have a million

questions, I hope you don't get sick of me. There is no one here that can seem

to answer alot of my questions. Especially, the doctors. The GI doctor I " had "

gave me a lecture on addiction to pain killers. So that cut off all

communications with him. The doctor I am seeing is internal medicine, and

although I know he is trying, I don't think he knows much about pancreatitis. I

am suppose to go to another GI that he referred me to next week. I would really

like some real good questions to ask him to find out if he really knows anything

or not.(He's in the same office with the 1st GI I had.) Anyway, I hope you are

having a great day. Mine has been better, I actually got to the store to buy

the stuff for a special dinner for my honey tonight. Now, if I can just get it

all together. But that is another story.

Thanks again, for being kind and helpful.

P.S. I don't know how to send you a new message through the group. Any

suggestions?
