Guest guest
Tom, you've seen someone i think we would all agree is the best of the best, and if he is advising you to wait before listing i'm sure that is terrific advice. The balance between managing symptoms and moving towards transplant is tricky, but no one is better equipped to analyze that balance than Dr. Gores. Good luck! Nina in Philly > I think Dr. Gores' point is that given the tight supply of organs, we can't necessarily pin all our hopes on transplants to solve all our problems immediately. The wait could be years. Unless you are very sick and listed at the top, the best strategy is to find ways to minimize symptoms and maintain a decent quality of life until there is an organ available for you. (And, while doing so, consider the living donor option.)
