Guest guest
Lee and Joanna, thanks for the response. I always get alarmed when I go back to my son's initial lab results and see the high numbers. I was inputing some more labs which we had taken in February and was reminded again about how bad the levels were at the beginning. Sometimes I want to hope because his levels went down so quickly, within six months to normal range and have stayed so that I wish it would be a wrong diagnosis. But MRCP done at the time of diagnosis two years ago found a beading in the bile ducts. We have had various possibilities added along the way. We have been told that there is possibly an overlap with autoimmune hepatitis, possible also Gilbert's. The last is because his bili levels continue to be just outside normal range and don't seem to change much. Usually his Bili Dir is 0.3 (normal 0.0- 0.2)mg/dl Bili Total hovers around 2.00 (normal 0.1-1.0)mg/dl By the way, are there tests to check if there really is Gilberts and AIH? Otherwise he is doing OK. He will be starting his junior year at the University of Florida in Gainesville in the fall. And his grades are great. He is in the Health sciences and joined a Health Profession Honor Society last semester (Can't remember what greek name it is) He was an electee until the end of semester when he was accepted after numerous duties had to be performed. Wish I could get him to eat better. He's always been a lousy eater and he has a small frame so not eating well doesn't help. So all in all, he is doing fine.
