Hi all -

I understand that with PSC you can get high cholesterol - even

eating well and exercising. My HDL is 34 (should be above 40) and

my LDL is 258 (should be below 130). My cholesterol was perfect 3

years ago, so obviously this is due to my PSC. My GI was reluctant

to give me anything, but we're trying Zetia for two weeks and then

will take blood tests to see if it is affecting my liver numbers. I

just started taking omega 3 fish oils about a week ago. Do most

people with PSC and high cholesterol go on meds for the cholesterol

or do you or your docs think the risks outweigh the benefits? I'm

not sure if I should take the medication for high cholesterol.

Should the Zetia work or will it not b/c this is due to my liver? I

don't want to tax my liver, but don't want hardening of the

arteries, etc. BTW, don't know if this matters (as far as

cholesterol goes) but my enzymes and Billi keep increasing. Bili at

5.3 and not budging except up.

I have done a search on this site, but did't get a lot of answers i

I was looking for. Hope someone can shed some light/insight on this.

Thanks so much in advance!
