Guest guest
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I'm finally back home after my transplant. They probably would have let me come home sooner if I lived closer to the hospital, but it's about a three hour drive, so they wanted me close in case there was a problem. My lab work this morning came back really good! Almost all my liver function is in the normal range now (bilirubin and SGPT are still a tad high, but they're coming down gradually). They also took the rest of my staples out this morning, so I'm a bit more comfortable now. I may even try sleeping on my stomach tonight... I have a hard time sleeping on my back, and I've managed to sleep on my side the last few nights, but I think I'll sleep much better when I can manage to sleep on my stomach! Well, I'm gonna go give it a try! Night night everyone! athan

Guest guest
athan, I had not been on the message board in quite sometime, so I am just hearing about your great news! I am so glad that everything went well. Who was your surgeon? 's was Dr. Beau . We loved him. Vandy was really good to us. It has now been 6 months since 's transplant. He goes back to see Dr. Raiford next month. We were in the same situation as you. We live north of Knoxville, which is also about 3 hours from Nashville, so we had to stay a little longer. You will be amazed at how much better you will start to feel. has just started back to work part time. He hadn't been able to work for two years. He is glad to have something to do now. He wasn't able to go back to the job he had. It was just too difficult. He still has some trouble with bathroom issues due to the J pouch, but he is at least doing something now. Once again, I am SO excited for you. wife of UC & PSC 2000 J pouch 2004 transplant Nov. 2006
Guest guest
, Thanks for the note! I live in Clinton, so I'm probably pretty close to you guys! My surgeon was Dr. Foley, but I've also seen several of the other surgeons since the transplant. They are all very nice and very knowledgeable. Like you said, everyone at Vandy was very good to us. I've been looking at what I want to do with my life once I've recovered completely. I'm not going to go back to my old job either (I've been out of work for the last six years). I haven't decided for sure yet what I want to pursue, but it's exciting just being able to look at possibilities and realizing that they are actually possible now! I'm glad that you and are doing well! athan
Guest guest
We are practically neighbors. We live in La Follette. It sounds like you are doing good. You really got to come home sooner than I think. He had the unusual reaction to Prograf and went a little crazy on us for a while. We were in Nashville for about a month the first stay. Then he had an episode of rejection at our first checkup and we were there for three days of iv steriods. Once I found all the malls, Wal-Mart, and Target I was okay. Did you stay at the Guest House? I'm sorry I ask so many questions, but PSC is such a rare thing and to find someone else within a few miles is pretty unusual. I hope to hear from you soon, and keep up the good recovery! wife of
