My Crohns goes back to 1983- 84. When I entered the Veterans Administration in 1996 for medical care not related to physical health but mental. They did some routine blood tests in which my ALK was mildly elevated as were the other liver enzymes, but they were only minimal elevations. The first symptom of my PSC was terrible fatigue and sporadic chills that would hit me daily and then suddenly disappear. I would take hot baths to take the edge off of these episodes. Finally I was able to get a diagnosis outside of the VA system by a private GI/HEP who found the PSC via ERCP. Multiple high grade strictures and an almost totally obstructed main bile duct. A sphincterotomy was done to gain entrance to the obstructed duct and a stent was placed which eliminated the chills, but there were other complications that arose with the stent in place. Sepsis. I have not had a stent in for awhile. Im in a plateau in the disease right now. It does not seem to have taken over my lobes yet. The main ducts are pretty much destroyed. Its been a slow process. Thats my story.. Andi PSC/Crohns 2001/2002
