Yesterday

had to be a very hard day for you.

I’m so sorry, wish you didn’t have to go through this. I’m sure Joe was looking down with

pride and saying – hey, that’s my mom, she loves me so much and I

love her too.

Thank you so much, Barb, for your kind words of comfort. Mother's Day was indeed a difficult day. My other son, Tom, his wife and my granddaughter had plans with her family in Houston, so I spent the day alone. ( Midland is a 5 hour drive from Austin and Houston is a three hour drive from Austin). Tom and sent me gifts and a card, and called me, but that was not quite the same as having them here in person, although I appreciated their thinking of me.

Then, I need to remind myself that during Joe's illness and death we all spent a great deal of time together, so I really should not feel too sorry for myself. It's just that I miss them all so much. My world will never be the same.

While I don’t know

exactly what you’re feeling, I can only imagine, after all, our kids are

a very large part of us. Like a

missing arm or leg, you only want to feel “whole” again. I’m sure Tom was missing his

brother too. They say time heals the

wound, I don’t know if that’s true, but I sure hope so. We’re all thinking about you and the

others who have lost a loved one to this disease. We won’t forget them.

Oh, yes, Barb, Tom misses his brother more than words can say. This is hard on all of us, and we all are grieving. It is nice to know that Joe will not be forgotten. Joe fought such a good fight and was so brave throughout his illness and in the end. We were proud of him every step of the way!
