Guest guest
Brett More important than my 19 is how are you? If thats what it took to get to see a post from you it was worth it. Ok, trying to think-I'll just group by area or doctor: Pulmonary-Usual Interstitial Pneumonitis. Rheumatology-Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease or Polymyositis. Debate on what is still going on. Reason for belief of autoimmune include history of GERD with a patulous esophagus on chest CT scan, elevated ESR, CRP, CK, aldolase and ANA along with an atypical chest CT scan. Current Rheumatologist just referred to another for an additional opinion. Also referred to an additional neurologist specializing in autoimmune related issues. Neurological-Peripheral Neuropathy with Restless Limbs. Also, balance and gait issues. Sleep Disorder. Oncology-Swollen Lymph nodes. Just tested also for parathyroid cancer and appears negative. Visit scheduled at urge of rheumatologist for testing for Myeloma. Also, pre-cancerous tumor removed from colon in 2005, no recurrence. Gastroenterology-Severe GERD/Acid Reflux. Damaged and weak lower esophagus sphincter. Globus/Tight upper sphincter (swallowing problems). ENT-Hearing loss and tinnitus, partly from previous Tympanoplasty with Mastoidectomy for removal of cholesteotoma. No recurrance of the cholesteotoma to date. Hay Fever, Chronic Rhinitis, Allergies, Sinus Problems. Ophthalmology-Just can't see, but nothing serious. Extreme nearsightedness and astigmatism. Developing cataracts but not to point of surgery. Nephrologist-Renal Insufficiency (+/- 50%). Elevated parathyroid. Vitamin D insufficiency. Dermatologist-Recurring problem with skin breakouts and bumps of unknown cause. Possible tests for Sarcoid. Other-Hypothyroidism Psychiatric-(No don't have multiple personality but once was in a group with a very nice girl who did-she had gotten it down from an identified 99 with names to only 2 and she was able to manage the one that still wouldn't go away. Very hard to imagine that illness). Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. I'm not sure how that all adds up except it adds up to 16 doctors with the latest two referrals. Have no idea how many of these things have a connection. I might make a great study after I'm dead if I end up donating my body to science. You see the list and its staggering but the fact is I'm feeling good and I'm happy and I'm enjoying life. The conditions which can be managed, I'm managing. Other conditions are still being investigated but I'm not changing any part of my life while the doctors try to figure it all out. Mainly I'm watching my lungs and determined that everything else is going to outlast them. Actually PF makes parts easier as I don't worry about the kidneys because we do believe they'll outlast the lungs. If I was going to live another 20 years then it would be a different story. Last comments from my nephrologist last time was walking over and asking " Are you happy? " Yes. " Are you having fun? " Yes. Then thats all that matters. Gastroenterologist is basically that he's not going to do anything inside my esophagus unless its emergency basis as so much has already been done (5 upper endoscopies, one motility study) and take 80 mg of Nexium a day, take very small dose of Valium with meals if needed for the Globus, and live). Get another colonoscopy in 2010 (I've had 4). Swollen lymph nodes being rechecked with new CT in October. Biopsy only if they grow more. I guess I feel much better than I should but I'm not stopping that. I'm not living life on the basis of what might happen in the future. I go to a lot of doctors but I do not let scheduling them interfere with scheduling pleasure or travel. I wasn't travelling and it was too hot to get out so I went 12 times in August and got some out of the way. I'm taking care of myself and enjoying life. I'm not in denial but I'm just not going to spend my time thinking of things I can't control. I'm able to do all this because I have the world's greatest mental health counselor. She makes sure I stay on track. Yes, she gives me homework assignments. lol. Also, I have all my friends here on the forum always around to talk to. Getting a terminal disease isn't my way of choice to make friends but it works. I laugh. I enjoy. I don't smile for pictures well, but I smile a lot inside. > > > > > > > > > The following Breathe-Support poll is now closed.
